Should we 'agree to disagree' on myLot?

I think it is more than a necessity on myLot where we all come from a wide range of societies, cultures, countries and languages. It is more than likely that opinions do clash in myLot and many people see things differently. Do you agree to disagree on myLot? Do you appreciate other members' points of view may be different from yours and give them the credit for it? Unfortunately, you do come across some discussions where some are adamant that their opinion is right or those where people are marked down for their difference in opinion in a certain topic. I do think some topics here are quite controversial and it is easier not replying to them for fear of being scathed by the poster or trying not to get into a long winded..but this and that..and I'm sure some know what I mean. Do you know what I mean? Shouldn't we just agree that another's opinion right or wrong should be acknowledged and accepted and 'agree to disagree'? and let it go? and be one huge happy family(ok, just kidding on that last one) but shouldn't we?

yes we should. i like the fact that everyone is different. how boring is it when everyone would be alike. and how awful when people try to force each other to change.

I think sometimes people just won't see another's point and it's ok to let it go in that case especially

It is a good topic to discuss. I should say I agree with you that we should "agree to disagree" not only in myLot but also in our common life. If the person you mentioned appeared in myLot, he must be doing the same thing in his life. The web is just a concentrated world. Of course, you will meet people with different cultures, religions or faith, and also some so-called "bad" ones. If I am in my life, I am afraid they will do some bad thing. But at internet, The worst thing is I am deteled from the members. So in my opinions, just express youself and be afraid of nothing.

I think you should feel free to state your opinon whatever that might be. You never know what people are going to think or feel about it, but at least you say what is in your heart. i usually speak my mind on my lot, but I try to do it in a nice way. I'm not out to offend anybody or hurt anybodies feelings. It's just an opinon afterall.

People with deep held views are never going to change their mind becuse of what they read in a discussion at myLot, but they should be able to discuss why they believe what they feel. It's not a true opinion if you can't justify having it. We can all benefit from reading different points of view and why people believe what they do. We don't have to agree with them. It's wrong to disrespect other people because of their personal, cultural or religious beliefs, and we should just agree to disagree. You can go on believing what you personally think and still respect other people who think differently.

I agree all mylotters come from different societies, different cultures, and different countries, which mean everyone is going to have a different opinion,I think that everyone should agree to disagree because it is the only way everyone will get along well on mylot, and I always appreciate everyones views even if they are different from me,because they often help me see things in a different perspective or learn things that I did not know.

I could not have put it any better myself. This is what makes a social networking experience so liberating because you would be able to open your perspective and widen your horizon in order to properly interpret the ways and thoughts from different individuals across the globe. See, one thing we should realize and we often tend to neglect in that area is that, even though I may disagree with your opinion but that doesn't mean I do not appreciate your way of thinking and do not acknowledge your viewpoints. There is something called constructive criticism and it is way different from personal attacks that unfortunately many users are tempted towards taking that as their primary means of communicating online. I always welcome a healthy discussion and debate where possible. After all, I may learn something new that I may have a wrong impression about it before and it is also true that I may teach someone something quite life-changing that he or she may be following it all wrong since the advent of his or her life. It is just the matter of being open-minded and accepting of others opinions. We should realize and understand that whatever we do, it is not that easy to change peoples frame of mind and thinking. All we can do is to have a proper and safe platform for our random thoughts to be judged appropriately without any personal attacks and I expect every sane and mentally stable individual to carry such a practice, not only here at online activities but also in social settings in real life. Thank you so much for reading this. I hope you have a great day friend :D Bye!
