PM from MyLot Admin?

I have received PM from a user here that told me that two of my discussion have been deleted for some kind of violation and he wants me to email him - the real yahoo mail not PM - for details. Does MyLot do that? I mean that if they delete discussions do they PM us and ask us to email us for details? I have a lot of discussions and can't remember which one was supposedly deleted. Help needed here please. The user has about 600+ points only so I guess he's not a moderator of sorts or what? How do I know it is MyLot who sent the PM for real? And should I respond to the PM through email?

The first thing that comes to my mind is that if MyLot was to contact you through your email they would already have it. They would not contact you asking you to give them it. When discussions are cancelled I am not aware that they contact you at all. Is this user on your friend list? Do you know him or her? I am wary of giving my email to ANYONE unless I am sure who I am delaing with. Please be careful

I see, when I checked my discussions indeed there were two which were deleted but I don't know any violation I committed there. I just directed people to my website to check it out if they want to. Can a user delete another user's posts? I haven't heard of this before. But I didn't even notice that my discussions were deleted. Why did he know that?

Very often when we make a discussion involving our website and pointing to our profile it is not really a discussion. If there is nothing to discuss then this is reason for deletion. Could the person who sent you the PM be aware of the fact that your discussion is no longer there because he responded to it?

I never came across such situation, what I think they delete your post silently if they feel like it is not worth of keeping here, they never informs you about that, and the fact is also true they will not ask for your email address as they already have it,you can track the person pm'ed you by visiting his or her profile,or send a mail to mylot, see if they can clarify your doubts.

Never ever respond to PM through email. Your mail ID is already with the webmasters and you might be recieving all the stuff in mail box. If the admin wants to contact you they can do it through the mail you recieve you mylot digest and other notifications

Yes, I remember now that they do send me notifications if I have activity on my discussions so that means they do have my email.

I would be contacting mylot and asking them if it is legitimate, sounds like someone trying to get their hands on your e.mail address to me. I remember a scam on here when someone was asking people for their mothers maiden name and their middle name. Of course, many people use such details as passwords, so it is really a good idea to be very careful when you get messages like you did blessed be

This sounds pretty fishy to me too. I would contact admin and send them a copy of the message you got..just tell them you are double checking to make sure it is legit. They cannot fault you for that.

It sounded fishy at first but when I read his mail it just asked me to email him for details. And the paranoid me thought that he was the one who was responsible and was phishing.

Yes, he's not from MyLot but I'm glad I didn't delete him as friend. He was just a confused guy.

Hmmm... I agree with what the others are saying. I really don't think MyLot actually PM people if a discussion is deleted. You'd just sort of find out on your own. Better yet, you can contact MyLot regarding that matter. Plus another strange thing is the person asking you to reply through your personal email... Strange...

The person informed that he did so because he did not know that it was not good to ask persons to email them. He's from somewhere in Asia and didn't know the rules but he did say he was not phishing. I guess I have to believe him.

This sounds very suspicious. I would be wary of anyone asking for my email. Mylot knows your email address since they notify you through this. It appears to me that this person is not who he says he is. You could try informing Mylot admin about him. He might be trouble.

Yes it seems a bit suspicious but I asked the guy why he did it and he just wanted an explanation. ;O)

This is surely not an admin but just someone who is trying to fool you or he has something else in the mind and that would lead into a bigger trouble. As you already know most of the services we are having from the internet or by phone, they always say none of the users could contact us as they are working in there. This can't be true, just like other friends have mentioned they could email you something if they really inform you. Just think of your notifications when you recieve some replies to your discussions. YOu are recieving them by email from mylot but nobody tells you about that kind of things in pm messaging. This would never be the formal way. Just don't give any details to him and I advice you to report him immediately. He may trick some other mylotters and this shouldn't be allowed.

I am with everyone here on this one. It sounds fishy to me. I had a friend get some discussions deleted and her complaint was that they deleted them and did not let her know why. I think this person is just trying to get your email address and I would for sure report them to mylot. If it really is a mylot person then they are not going to mind that you took the percausion. It is always better to be safe than sorry especially when no one else has heard of them contacting asking for e mail address.

One of my discussions was once deleted and I was never contacted about it and as other people have said, when you sign up you give them your email address, so I think it is some form of scam. I wouldn't worry about it.

The person explained that he only wanted an explanation as to why the post was deleted and I guess he was truthful so I must have overreacted to his PM.

This person is definitely not a mylot 'official', lol. They don't email you, if they delete your discussions/responses. If they wanted to give you an education about posting here, which I think is unheard off, they would have done it in the PM. Now, there are those people, who fish for emails (for spam purposes) or want to go phishing, or just get a personal contact for other reasons. I would not reply, definitely not via email.

I did have some deleted posts when I was new but MyLot didn't inform me about the deletion that is why I was wondering if it is so.

Hi there, for my information here more than 2 months and I have some of my posts deleted too, nothing of Mylot come to my email, and I think they don't tell us about anything deleted from our posts, I think the one who email you just want to spam on you as I thought, I am not sure of that, but for what I know Mylot dose not email anyone if he/her did have any violation here, they just delete the posts if it violate some of Mylot rules. I hope that can help you, have a nice day.

Dont you when you set up a account on here give them your email? I am sure that you do and if I am wrong i am sorry. But, that seems a little odd for them to ask you that. And if your discussion was deleated dont they just delet it and be done with it? It kind of seems odd to me. But hey what do I know I am still new on here so I am learing myself.

Hello joyadalia, I don't think the guy is from mylot admin. I think that guy is fishing for information. I never heard or read here at mylot that they will let you know if one of your discussions have been deleted. Even though I don't have a deleted discussion yet I never heard on a similar situation like yours. The best way to confirm if that is a mylot admin is to contact mylot using the contact listed here. It's better to make sure first. Your real email migth be flooded with spam mail. Better ignore it for a while until you are sure it's legitimate admin inquiry. Have a safe day.
