The first thing that I would do is check out www.ameridream.org , they have lots of information on classes for buying a house. I took one of the classes and they give so much information that I didn't know. If you complete the classes, then they will help with down payment assistance. Another site that has some really good information is www.fha.com Look over those 2 sites and you should have a good idea about what to look for, how to get ready and eventually get into your own home. Good Luck!

I'm happy for you for looking into buying a house. Well I guess the first step you need to do is determine your financial status. If you are financially stable and have a good budget you can certainly buy the good house you want. However, if you are not then I suggest looking at a bank loan. After that is settled then the next thing to do is look for the right location. If its too far from where you work or from where you want/need to be then its not good even if its cheap. Sometimes talking to a real estate agent is way better than from a friend's referral or something that you came upon by yourself. Following that all the extra details are up to you, just remember don't give in to pressure and take as much time as you need. Buying a house is a life long investment, so happy house hunting.

If you have anyone who is knowledgable in the workings of a house like a plumber, electrician or an engineer or obviously someone who builds houses, I would ask them to check out any houses before you buy them after you see one you like just to make sure you don't have unknown worries that will appear right after purchase. Otherwise, it really depends on what you are looking for. What rooms do you want to be most accessible? How much space do you need in each room? Those kind of things are up to you.
