It's a crying shame when you pay for a repair and they either do a half job or no job at all and charge you a arm and a leg. If only I could have found my job order where I'd paid nearly $800 to have an oil leak fixed. In a few months I was putting oil in my car daily. 3 different mechanics informed me the job had never been done. One place said I was leaking out of every place that could leak. (Car was smoking like Cheach and Chong). Had to wait to get the extra cash so I didn't do it then. Had another do a tune up and he repeated the same thing. The third was my husbands friend who came from out of town to fix it, and he said it was never touched. How can they live this way. Still haven't found the paid job order to this day.

I think that happens all too often. I think what you should do is go to the BBB and make a report about them. You probably wont be the first. They will probably help you out. I've gotten alot of help from the BBB in the past. They are very helpful.

I think I was so tunnel vision on getting my hands on that misplaced work order to take them to small claims. *shaking my head*. Thanks for your input.

Hi Mzkuma, I was very lucky in that my husband was a very good mechanic and taught me a lot in my years with him so I have never been ripped off. I always used to have a network of people I could use who were very honest and reliable and I can even do a lot of stuff myself but I have now moved out of area so I asked for referrals from neighbours and newly made friends and have been blessed yet again with an honest mechanic. You will always get people that will rip you off but they surely lose out in the long run as they don't get loyal reliable repeat business customers and eventually get themselves a very bad name. This is unforunate that you have had this happen. I hope you don't get stung again like this. Ellie :D

Me too Ellie. The guy who does our work now is fantastic. He use to work on my husbands car years ago. Now that my husband has found him (he always bragged on this man)I don't want no one else to touch it. Not even for cheaper.

ohh man, im sorry to hear that... yes I;ve also been ripped off, the mechanic but, in my case it was sooo, i cant even describe it...Well this one mechanic was supposed to fix the radiator, or something like that..then he never touched it, plus he stoled pieces...So yes, imagine that, doing nothing, stealing parts, and on top of that paying the mother...f....(excuse my french). i did take the guy to court and all and got my settlement. I suggest you do the same. Afterall you are paying for a service you didnt get, so dont give away the money you work hard for, just for someone to come like that and get free money!
