Is it both legs? And is it still numb or was it just for a short time? My husband had a problem with his legs going numb earlier this year, it lasted for several days. After a few days he went to the Doctor because he couldn't stand it anymore. This was back in March. Since then he has been sent to a Neurologist and a Neurosurgeon, sent for bloodwork, and for MRI's. He had a partial MRI and then they sent him for a full one, unfortunately he had a panic attack and didn't complete it so will be going for another attempt in a couple of weeks. They have been able to rule out anything serious and so far everything is pointing toward that it was just a virus of some kind. There was something on his first MRI which was only about a month after the numbness happened, but on the partial they were able to get the second time before his panic attack there is nothing there. So the Neurosurgeon is thinking since it's gone it must have just been a virus, they still want a full scan to make sure though. I don't know if yours is anything like this, but that is our experience with what you describe!

Now that would be cool!! He has to take a Valium before his next MRI to try and get him through it, with that kind of an MRI I think he could do it! I don't think I would make it through one either though, I have anxiety and claustrophobia, I think they would have to knock me out completely to get me through it LOL. I hope it turns out to be nothing for you as well, it has sucked all the tests and Doctors the hubby had to go through to find out it was really nothing, but better safe then sorry!

Hi Jomom75, thank you for your response...it is both legs and sometimes both my arms and hands...right now it's just my legs. About the MRI...I can identify with your hubby...I am totally and umongously claustrophobic...here in NJ they just brought in a Stand-Up MRI, it is the coolest...you just sit and watch tv while the machine is doing its job...I think it's the greatest thing invented since bread! LOL I have an appt. on Monday...I'm hoping it's nothing more than a passing thing although I am 55 so you know how that goes...the older we get the more complications that arise :-( I am so grateful for all who responded so quickly...you guys are the best! ~G~

Well sweetie, I'm not a doctor, but I have had the same thing once or twice. I think you pinched a nerve in the bottom of your foot. When you cut off the blood flow, your limb falls asleep because your blood stops flowing. When you release the block you get the pins and needles effect. Odd but true. It could have been a nerve in your hip or lower back, too. Sometimes we pinch them without knowing it. Hope this helps. I hope the answer is this simple.

It could be your sciatic nerve, which is located in your lower back. I had a problem with mine a couple of months ago and it went from pins & needles down my leg to pain in my leg and all the way up to my back. Try to avoid standing for long periods of time until you can see the doctor.

Hi Saplladino, thank you so much for responding...oh my gosh I am almost ready to go home...get out @ 4PM...my legs really feel funny, like tired and numb at the same time... I had an accident in 2004 and was out of commission for almost a year...did everything but surgery and my back sometimes bothers me a lot, I just never had my legs feel this way... Hopefully it's nothing more serious... ~G~

Hi.. Though I'm not a doctor, I can tell you several probable causes of this as far as I know but it is IMPORTANT to see a doctor in this case because a numb leg tells a lot of problems. You may have a DVT which means deep vein thrombosis, a blockage of a blood clot in a deep vein in your upper leg. This usually caused by long hours of sitting in the chair. Another is diabetes. Most diabetics feel numbness in their hands and legs because of high blood sugar levels in the blood. Just see your doc to let him tell much more about what you feel. I hope you will get well soon.
