how does one improve his/her intelligence is it by just thinking and staying curious or is it by reading more and more books, like a book worm?

read and think... my sister told me once those who read a lot has more memory retention than those who don't like to read. but then don't just swallow everything you read, you also need to think about it and explore the idea...

I think that reading does play a role. But I think that you learn something in everything you do. You can watch a show that you don't normally watch and learn something unexpected there. You could even go out with your friends and have a discussion you didn't think you would have and learn something. You also get an understanding for another person's point of view. I think that anything you do in your everyday life can teach you something. By coming in here you might be able to answer a question for someone that you didn't think you could. You might read a response that you surprises you. You learn by going to school, or by helping an aunt clean out her attic. She could probably tell you some things from the past that you never knew. All over things are happening around us and it's up to us to open our eyes and look for them. Stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new helps us learn things we never thought we could. If you are not into sports but then take up a sport, not only would you learn something about that sport but you get a better appreciation for those who partake in that sport. Books can help you learn but I also think that if you are not out there living, that could be another factor that helps you grow as an individual.

I think real intelligence is being able to have an open mind and always being curious and going after the answers, knowing that they are there if you look hard enough. I think real intelligence is going after answers to questions that may not necessarily be found in books. I think a truly intelligent person has certain qualities, like compassion, and humility, and respect for life, simply because they actually understand what life really is. An intelligent person has control over his senses and his mind. He is responsible, dependable, truthful in every way. It just seems that there are no truly intelligent people running this country. I think we are all in for alot of trouble.

In my opinion, there are different types of intelligence. Others learn through reading, others hone their skills through constant practice, others are simply inquisitive, and others are simply smart.....Man is a subject for change which makes it possible for a person to dwell on different methods to enhance his skills, capabilities and knowledge....

I think intelligence is your ability to grasp new concepts and ideas, the book smarts is more related to knowledge. Being intelligent does nothing for you, though, if you are unwilling / uninterested in learning new things! The stupidest people you will ever hear speak are the highly "intelligent" people who have never picked up a book or researched a topic.
