Gag Gifts

A bunch of us threw a birthday party for a good friend. We all are tight and we could get pretty raunchy with our humor, her included. Gag gifts were a staple at parties, followed by real gifts from the heart. We just love to get together and laugh. Maybe you have seen panties that come in a set, different colors with the days of the week on them. Well the set I gave her was 12 pairs of panties with January, February, March, etc. She blew her top!! Freaked everybody out. Everyone awkwardly made their way out of there over the next hour and felt weird for a while after. I apologized but she was reluctant to accept it. She said that I knew nothing about women and that she'd cool off in time. She did and everything is copacetic. We are all fans of tasteless humor...I still can't figure out what I did wrong. Anyone had a joke backfire?

Not lately. i guess maybe she thought the joke was too intimate. I dont know your friend or your relationship so I cant be sure, that would be my hunch. Anyway I hope everything goes well the next time you get together with her and go to a party. i guess it couldnt get much worse. I hope you have a good time regardless.

I am not much of a jokester or prankster so, no, I have never really had one backfire. I did give a friend the days of the week panties at a Christmas party in high school. Fortunately, she had a great sense of humor. Maybe your friend was just in a "mood" at that moment? I am glad things worked out. It would be silly to ruin a friendship over a package of panties.*S*

I think you're right...it was way out of character, but I'll be damned if I'll ever bring the subject up again.

I also don't like such kind of jokes or behavior. I think, every one should have a limit and which should not be crossed in any case. Because after crossing this limit, you may directly hurt the dignity of that person, even if he or she may be good friend of yours. This should specially be kept in mind, when you are in public or in some kind of gathering like parties. I think, everybody should respect dignity of other parson also. Like in the case cited by you, perhaps your friend didn't take the joke kindly because she felt that her dignity has been challenged in front of others.

I guess I found out her limit. We've been a crazy crew forever, and there were no strangers at the party. I'm gonna chalk it up to experience and go back to the fly in the ice cube and the squirting flower.(God...that's boring.) Thanks for replying.

IS that why you got divorced? Oh well, you never know how someone will take it. I do not think I ever did anything like that, as it is not my style. Who is to say that the underwear was not being washed every day? Oh well, did you include the receipt? How old was she? She was embarrassed, huh?
