When is a thing most likely to get wasted-throwing it or keep it but not use it?

Hi everyone! I often do it with my old stuffs. I throw them whenever I don't use it for about a year or two and my mom always disagrees with what I'm doing. She wants me to just keep it and wait until I can use it again. But for me keeping it for another year or so only piles up more old stuff and eventually destroys the stuffs more if kept longer times unused. You see what I do is I put them in separate plastic bags, clothes, shoes, bags and all other items alike. I put them outside my garage and then poor kids or scavengers would pick them up. I know they are still going to sort out all the garbage they collect so they will see what can be used or not. Tell me, am I wasting things? For one I don't like to see unused stuffs in my cabinet just taking up space and eating dust, waiting and waiting until I can use them again but not knowing when.

I usually have no problem with getting rid of clothes. But when it comes to other stuff like makeup, and stuff like that, even though I dont use it I hate to throw it out becuase it is perfectly good and can be useful ONE day. When that day comes I dont know, it might never will, But i just hate to throw out stuff that is good knowing that there might be a use out of it someday.

Hello,Iskayz! You are right in throwing away the old and unused stuffs from your house.Unused materials should not be kept in the house. It should be disposed off as soon as possible else that will create problems for your health and relationship. So make it a principle to clear off the unused stuff once every year so that those will not pileup in the home.thanx.

hi iskayz in that case, you do the right thing. it's better for the stuff to be with the poor kids or scavengers than to be with you. regarding it, there are two kind of people. the ones who are 'keepy' and the one who are 'throwy'. in the extreme degree, both are not good. it's better to be wise on deciding to keep or to throw unused stuffs. well, i am tend to be a keepy one, and my former bos is an extremely throwy one. when we move our office, he tend to throw anything and i tend to keep them, so we are always argue about what to keep and throw

Good day... I think throwing it away instead of keeping it or giving it to someone else that could have use it is the most likely waste things. You can keep it to save, I mean I agree with your mom so when the time comes you could use it again and save money by not buying again.

Well iskayz, why not give it up to goodwill? Or maybe have a yard or rummage sale and make some extra coin from it. I have heard on more than one occasion that if it doesn't get used in a five year span to get rid of it. Good luck with that, wish you good shui.

For me it doesn't make any sense to keep things that you don't use just because they are still good. Here in the states we sometimes have yard sales and sell the unneeded items. Sometimes they are taken to thrift stores to be resold at a greatly reduced price. Those funds hen go to help the needy in other areas such as food. If I know of someone that can use my items I just give them to them. but when I don't I take them to a thrift store. I don't like to keep any thing just because I might need it down the road. It make keeping the house neat harder.

I'm sure you know this, but you are very fortunate to be able to replace things if you decide you need them again in a year or two. There are many people who don't have that option, and you're generosity makes a big difference in their lives. It also keeps the cosmic energy in your house in motion so it's never stagnate. You give to others, more good things come to you. Many of the people you give to have renewed hope and they can make their lives better. Everybody wins! Keep up the good work.

Well, if you think you're not going to use it, then get rid of it! You only have so much space, I would guess, and things can get cluttered pretty easily if one is not careful. How about taking your stuff to a Goodwill or Salvation Army Thrift Store? They'll sort through it and figure out what can be reused and what can't. Or take to a woman's or children's or homeless shelter? This way you can tell your mom you're not wasting anything! You're helping your community then . . .
