Take this as a guide: If you are very budget user, CPU: Intel Celeron Dual Core + 1 GB RAM + Intel 945 chipset Motherboard + 160 GB HDD + 15 inch CRT monitor. Standard configuration: CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core + 1 GB RAM + Intel G31 chipset M/B + 240 GB HDD + 17 inch CRT monitor. If you have more budget you can go for PCI Express AGP(ATI Radeon 3650) and next for LCD monitor. If you need any further help PM me.

Assemble your own new PC according to your budget. Cheap things are mostly not good. Cost effective and proportionate to quality is better than very chesp products. If you do not know how to assemble a PC, search for a friend who knows how to do so. Lately, I assembled a PC and it is very cost effective, stable and fast. It is also suitable for all my needs. Buy the following parts and put them together: 1) A casing with power-supply unit. (switching power-supply 250watt and above - in real power terms) 2) Processor according to your need (get proper advise from someone knowledgeable regarding PCs.) 3) A Matching Mother-board. 4) RAM modules according to your usage and requirement. 5) Hard Disk (capacity according to your requirement). 6) A key-board and a mouse 7)A DVD drive according to your need. 8) The various attachment cables (if they are not supplied with the components). 9) A VGA monitor (CRT monitors are cheaper than DVD monitors) 10) Buy an ink-jet or ribbon printer which is cost effective in the long run) 11) Suitable soft-wares and various drivers to run your PC Your PC must be upgradeable for a while and suitable for all your needs for quite some time because PCs go out of compatibility very fast. For assembled and branded PCs the market prices have been fixed unless there is an offer when production of that model of PC is going to stop. Good-luck and happy computing. PCs have become a lot cheap nowadays if you assemble them. Since you are seeking a cheap alternative, we will focus on the performance and not the eye candy. Go for a CRT monitor, since it will give you more funds to get nice graphics card and processors. Buying a CRT instead of LCD will save you upto 10k Rupees. Another thing is to go for a 256 MB Graphics card in the start, the cheapest one is for 2100/- Rs. It will open new doors for your PC like High Level gaming and entertainment. It will even increase your PC's performance. Try to get your hands on the Intel Core 2 Duo, but if you don't have the funds, get the Intel Dual Core Processor. You can get a LCD when you have got enough money and remember to get a CPU which can be easily upgraded and doesn't become outdated soon. Ask the assembler to give you a CPU with a lot of slots.
