How important is internet to my life? Let's see, when I wake up, I open my laptop and check my emails while I wait for my coffee. I don't go to bed without checking online for the last time of the day. When I have a question to something and want to know the answer, thank you internet for instant gratification! I keep in touch (or try to) with friends and family online. Without Skype or Yahoo Messenger, I would miss and worry about my dad who's thousands of miles away even more. When I get lonely and bored, the internet is my companion. There are ways that the internet could tickle me when I need a laugh. Internet was a big help to me during university life. I am sure it will be of help to me when I look for a job and when I get one. When I need to go somewhere I've never been to, the internet provides me with a map and directions. How cool is that? And the internet always gives me access to both sides of the story. I can barely remember my days pre-internet and I grew up without it. I have never realized how huge the world is and how much more there is to learn until the internet opened it up for me. Well, there were other experiences in my life that helped too. But I'm still giving the internet credit.

For me, the internet is my means of making money. But iIalso use it to keep in contact with people and for staying on top of the news that the left wing media won't share with us. Of course I also use it for fun sometime. But the main reason is making money.

I think that the internet is very important. I too am an IT professional and a lot of the answers that I need are the web. In my personal life, I run a blog to earn extra money and the talk with my friends and family via e-mail and IM. The days of having to wait for a letter are over and I am happy about that. We live in a instant graditification culter and I think the internet helps to facilitate that.

When I first became self-employed, ten years ago, the internet was only used by a limited number of people. Connection at home was only available by dial-up and use was charged by the minute. I started using the internet to promote my work and to do some networking. I soon became aware of how important it was to do this and within a few years most of my business came from the internet. Now I rely on the internet totally for my work. I can connect my laptop anytime and any place for a monthly contract fee. There are no national boundaries on the internet, I can freelance around the world and, luckily for me, the foremost language of the worldwide web is English.
