i have a 7 year old cat. she has been with me since she was a little kitten. she had to other cat friends who just recently passed away on her. my and my hubby got two new kittens and at first the cat was ok with them but just in a few weeks she has become hitler on them. they are about 1 year and 2 months old now and when they go and eat my 7 year old goes bizerk on the one cat and attacks her. i dont understand it. the kitten runs away and i just dont know what to do or why this has happened. the kittens are sweet and not aggressive and i just think the 7 year old is evil. lol. any advice does this sound normal to cat owners? what can i do. she gets along with one kitten and not the other.

I am not good with cats but I'll try sharing this. Have you checked on the cats' genders? Or maybe the little kitten was being naughty to the older cat. I guess your older cat seems to be possessive of the home she has been living for 7 years. And I guess she finds the other kitten which she doesn't attack not a threat to her territory. Maybe the kitten she despises is a big threat to her dominance in your house. I don't know, maybe time will make them friends. Just wait and let them be friends slowly until they get used to each other. Good luck with your cats! I wish I had a Crookshanks. ;)

Hi Is the kitten that she doesn't like female also. I had this with one of my established cats and she used to spit and his at this kitten all the time but was fine with the other who was a boy. Even after they were spayed she was the same and actually started going to the old lady across the road more and more until she eventually moved out, she really was against this new female arrival. I now have just the two cats one male one female as I have now moved and she stayed behind with her new owner. Cats are very independent creatures and you have bought these kittens into her territory so she has the hump about it. Ellie :D

I had the opposite problem. My female cat is the oldest, at four years old we got a kitten, everyone said she should have a playmate. Well, we got a male kitten, and he has been driving her crazy ever since He has such personality, and was not afraid of her and completely took charge at six weeks old. They used to fight like cats and dogs, (no pun intended). They do not fight as much now, but she is still tentative when it comes to him. Maybe it is a gender thing, the male will be the dominate one. My kitten used to go bizerk on the four year old too. I think they will be okay, the kitten may soon be able to handle the situation and the aggressor may soon calm down as well. Good luck
