Dermal implants

Hey guys I have a few 'traditionally' performed piercings (septum, three in my lower lip, bridge and earlobes) but I'm curious about dermal implants. I think they look beautiful and would really like to get some but I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has had these done and would be able to tell me basically how they are done, and whether the level of pain/discomfort is that much different to a 'regular' piercing.

I personally have never done it but I do know alot of people that have done some different dermal implants. However if you are really thinking about getting this done. Make sure you trust your piercer as well as you take care of it for the intial healing process. I honestly don't think that it would hurt too much but mind you we all have different pain tolerances so if you have a high tolerance I say go for it if you like.

Yes, i think i will go ahead and do it at some point, and that will be the time to talk to my piercer about the process as well. I have quite a few other piercings, and a tattoo that I had done in one 3.5 hour sitting, so I don't think the pain will be too much of an issue, I'm more just curious about the actual procedure. You are quite right though, anyone who is considering any kind of body modification should be confident with their piercer/tattooist and should ensure that they understand what is required of them in terms of aftercare. Most places give you a sheet of paper to take away as a reminder of what you will need to do to keep it clean and healthy =)

It all depends on the part you are getting done as well. Go and talk with the piercer and find out more on the specifics that you want to get done.

I've only seen videos of this on TV, never had one done. It didn't look too bad on TV, but maybe those people had high pain tolerances. When I considered different piercings myself, I looked on YouTube for videos to see how people tolerated it. Maybe there are videos of dermal implants on YouTube?
