Results of my short story entry

The first round of judging ended and we got the results day before yesterday. I made Honorable Mention. I am very happy with this for my first ever short story entry into a contest.
The judges liked my story, it just didn't emphasize the theme well enough. I will know for the next contest to make the theme a more integral part of the story. Michy will be getting me the critique and editing notes back soon. Hopefully they will help me improve my writing.
All in all, I'm happy with the results.
The next contest has started. We have until the end of October to enter. It's on the Accentuate Writers Forum if any of you are interested in entering!

Good for you, I often feel I would like to write a story - I feel I have the writing skills, I just lack the inspiration... I even created a couple of cartoon cats called 'bub and scrub' based on my Mother-in-laws cats, but I could never come up with a complete story for them...

Great going! I too belong to that forum but I have never entered a contest. What a great start for you! I have mostly written factual articles and don't see myself writing creatively if I can make that distinction and make sense?

Good for you, Honorable Mention is great for your first time ever.. I am sure that you will learn by your mistakes and the next story will be even better.. I am going to check out the site and see if I can maybe, just maybe, write a story.. Have a great day and good luck on your next one..

Thank you. I hope to do better in the next one. There are some very good writers on the forum that enter the contest though! This time there were 18 entries. The next contest will have even more I'm sure because the cash prizes are higher than ever!

I have been wanting to enter every contest but I can never think of an idea for the theme. I have problems coming up with ideas when I need to because they usually just come to me for no reason. Have you thought of an idea for this contest yet? I need to clear my head and maybe one will come to me. Good luck with the next contest! Oh, I was wondering if you would send me a copy of your story in my email so I can read it? If you do, you will have to copy and paste it into word pad because I can't open it in anything else. George, from the forum, sent me a horror story to read. Not the one for the contest. Anyway I had to email him and ask him to send it to me in word pad because I couldn't open it. If you don't mind sending it to me let me know and I will PM you my email address. :)

Thanks for sending it to me, I am reading it now. I just got done reading one of Michy's short stories. Have you read hers yet? She uploading a couple of short stories to the forum. I read the first one and it was great! After I read yours, I am going to read her second one. If you haven't read hers yet, go to the general writing discussion where she uploaded them. :)

Sure, send me your email and I will send you the story to read. I really liked my story. I'm curious to see how many mistakes I made..lol.
I do have an idea but am waiting on my critique of the last story before I start writing the new one.
