Do You Remember The Beatles???

With my weeks somewhat busy, to relax, on Saturday mornings while I'm myLotting, I put on movies from Video on Demand. Since they are included with my cable, i see them as free. I judge how good a movie is by how hard I'm working on myLot. If it's NO GOOD, I concentrate on the discussions. If it is mediocre, I catch myself watching some & participating in myLot some. If it's a GREAT movie, I find I stop discussing & watch the movie. Some of the mediocre movies I watch just enough to want to know what really happened. I usually find time to go back & watch them again. I just had once of those movies on. It's called Across the Universe. It's a musical love story with I do believe EVERY song the Beatles put out. If you grew up as a hippie, you will probably enjoy it. I'm not sure the movie itself is all that wonderful. However, the music was outstanding. If you liked The Beatles, I believe you just might enjoy it. I know I'm going back & watching it closer. Do you have any special ways of finding GREAT movies???

Oh the Beatles, I just love their music. The wonderful memories it brings back when I listen to their songs. I especially like "Hey Jude". I was on my way home from visiting a friend who lived close to the "Dakota" on that tragic day when John Lennon was shot, the crowd grew to the hundreds holding a candlelit vigil, everyone was crying and singing all of his songs. He lives through his music and will always be remembered.

I wasn't in New York that day, but I lived in Washington DC. They had 24 hour coverage on everything that happened from the time he was shot until that bastid went to jail. The main character in the movie's name was Jude. So they sang Hey Jude a lot. His girlfriend....Lucy; but they waited until the end of the movie to play Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

I'm so sorry for coming in so late. Frankly speaking, I don't remember beatles due to two reasons. First, I live in India and they were not so famous here and second, I was very young in those days and can't even remember anything about those days.

All the Shrek movies were much better than Across the Universe. I just found I stopped typing to watch a little more than normal. With all my time at the hospital, I've not found time to go back & watch it again. You seem to understand that problem.

of course, i mean, i am just 22, but those are the kind of songs that i like. my dad would play beatles early in the morning and it makes me love the band and their music too. at an early age, i learned to appreciate beatles music. i like most that song that they made entitles "i will" "wh knows how long i love you.. you know i love you still will i wait a lonely lifetime, if you want me too i will." "i love you forever and forever, love you with all my heart, i love you whenever we're together, love you when w;re apart!" i soo love beatles.. i appreciate classical music than the new noisy ones!

Do I remember the Beatles? Does a bear crap in the woods! Yes, I do - and yes, he does too - hahaha! Speaking of movies (and Across the Universe sounds excellent), did you ever see The Magic Christian? I remembered it the other day, and there were actually some clips on YouTube. Ah, nostalgia ...

I'm going to have to remember to see if I can find that movie. I love The Beatles. I too had a complete collection of their albums, until it was stolen. (I couldn't pursue the issue. I'm certain it was an old boyfriends sister, but, their father was in the hospital from a heart attack, and I felt his health was the bigger issue.) Anyway... Thanks for bringing up this topic. :)

I'm truly sorry about your collection!!! Your actions shows what a caring person you are!!! This is a fairly new movie. It was in the Early Premieres section. It was made in 2007. The Early Premieres usually just came out on DVD or will be out soon.

The Beatles were great and one can never run out of superlatives when talking about them. Across the Universe is an outstanding song and I would like to see the movie if I had the chance. Cheers!!

Oh, man! I was a definite Beatlemaniac! I was 12 years old when their music was first played in the US. My sister, who was older, called me into her room, very excitedly, and said "Listen to this!" I can't remember which song it was, but I seem to remember it being "I Wanna Hold Your Hand." I asked, "Who are they?" She said, "John, Paul, George and Ringo." I said, "Oh." and that was that, until....... When I saw them on the Ed Sullivan show, I was hooked! I couldn't get enough of them. I never did get an opportunity to see them perform in person, but I've watched all 3 of their movies many, many times and have a complete album (vinyl!) collection of their's. Is that movie on now? I mean, is it available now? We have cable with VOD so, if you say 'yes', I'm outta here for at least the length of that movie!

On my VOD Starz has an Early Premier Section, it is playing today. The concept of the movie blends with the songs & I found it somewhat interesting. Plus I'm a sucker for a love story. I cried at the end (don't tell nobody please)

Hi, I definitely remember the Beatles - they didn't look that good, but their songs were simply great! My hubby has their complete song collection, and he and his friends enjoy singing the songs at karaoke sessions at their club. I love the Beatles songs, especially 'Love Me Do' and 'It's a Hard Day's Night'!

We don't have to look at them to listen to their music. It was some GREAT music. Just think of what the world would have missed if they had been censored the way that was tried!!!

Hey LadyM! There's my good buddy! Now I have to go look up this movie so I can listen to it! I love the Beatles! I grew up loving them! Yes, I was a hippie love child! Peace and Love and all that! John was my favorite Beatle! Of course I loved them all, but he was my fav! I loved all their songs and know just about everyone to this day by heart and will sing along! I still can enjoy A Hard Day's Night over and over! Lost count on how many times I must've seen that one! I do love the classics too. I think Gone With The Wind is one of my all time favs! Some great lines came out of that one and I loved Clarke Gable, then again who didn't???

I know that movie but is not my kind of movie.. I think that finding a great movie is not so hard.. maybe looking for great actors first would make a movie great.. Watching trailers before watching the whole movie.. or reading about that movie on the web knowing what others said about it..

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy Across the Universe. I'm a BIG fan of romantic stories & The Beatles so I loved it. I don't find that trailers help me that much. I've watched some great trailers & the movie sucked. And I've watched some lousy trailers & the movie was GREAT!!! I'm sure if I had watched the trailer on AtU I would not have taken the time to watch it. I have found some of my BEST sleepers by turning on Video on Demand while in myLot & letting the movie catch my attention. Thank you for you thoughts on this!!!

The Beatles were the GREATEST BAND EVER!!! I thought about watching Across the Universe, but I was not so sure about it. My mother and I have all the albums, but The White Album.

The music the Beatles gave to the world was and still is extraordinary, before it's time. Lennon, McCartney will never have an equal, they were an amazing combination, but, as with Elvis, the movies thrust upon us were abysmal. I guess thats the nature of the beast when you have moneymakers like The Beatles, Elvis, The Monkees and many others to exploit. There is no doubt the fab four would not have made such rubbish by choice.

I never held them responsible for any of their movies. They are not even in this movie, it's their music that is the star. From what you've said, my guess is you won't enjoy this movie.
