Be the Change: Is Peace on Earth Possible?

"We must become the change that we want to see in the world." -Mahatma Gandhi Do you think that it is possible for our world to one day walk in peace, harmony and... well, you get it. The phrase "peace on earth" has sadly become a cliche and I feel that is one of our problems. We have said we want peace on earth so much and because we've not acted on it, it have lost its strength. That means the belief in universal peace is diminishing. In order to make something possible you have to believe it is first and start with yourself next. Whatever it is that you want to stop happening, STOP doing it. If there's something you want to happen, START doing it! Like Gandhi said, be the change. After watching the 2008 Olympics closing ceremony, I found a new hope. I was watching all of the athletes walking out into the middle of the stadium together, laughing, smiling and celebrating such a huge and very respectable accomplishment in their lives. There were random camera shots of athletes from different countries hugging one another, taking pictures. In another shot there were Australian athletes running up behind unsuspecting Chinese athletes wrapping their arms around their shoulders trying to get their face in the camera, yelling things that only they can tell you. Can you see the bigger picture here? For that moment, everyone else was just another beating heart, living a dream. Can it be that easy? Start with yourself, change the world.

You said it perfectly, "Too many chiefs, not enough braves." I'm definitely going to remember that one. If you see it as impossible, there's no way peace on earth will ever come. It only takes one person and it starts with one person. Thanks for your response! =]
