I just heard Joe Liberman speak at the republican national convention and it just makes my blood boil. He spoke from the heart and I admire and respect that. At first I was ok with what he had to say. Calling for unity across party lines, even referencing George Washington's fear of party politics. However, his attacks on Barack Obama were unwarranted and just plain wrong I think. I see this as his last year a chairman.

I loved Liberman's speech. I've always admired him. I think he knew he was taking a chance at losing his chair seat when he spoke at the Republican convention. But, he did what he thought was best. He put the country in front of his job in Congress. And, as Newt Gingrich said tonight, he was brave in doing this, knowing it would probably be the end for him, but then he gives the democrats the majority, so will they actually take he chair from him? I guess we'll have to wait and see. I know that the Republican convention goers really loved him.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I am curious to see where this will go. Ultimately, I think he will lose his seat. I am confident that the Dems would keep their majority actually grow it by a few, so I do not think they should worry about that much longer. I can't help but question if he was being sincere.

Sumpter, do you mean you don't know if he was sincere in his speech, or was he sincere in not worrying about what the Democrats will do? I believe he was sincere in his speech. He's been a long time friend of McCain's and he's campaigned with him for a long time.
