Blogging...how do I start?

From what I hear, I must be the only person in the world who does not have a blog. It seems exciting and I want to try it, but I would like to get some advice from my friends on mylot who, it seems, all have been blogging for a long time. How do I get started? Where is the best time to start a blog? What do you usually talk about in your blog? Do you always have to have lots of traffic? How do you increase traffic? Any other tips... Thank you all.

I've always wondered this myself. I even asked a few people and did research on what people put on blogs. I didnt get much information so..depsite having opened an account for a blog i still have no clue what i want to use it for!
