Hello tonytt. I am not sure whether you like a kind of small dog like poodle. I used to have a poodle. It is a white one, very beautiful and playful. But later we sent it to someone else as we did not have so much time to take good care of it. It is a she-dog, which was later proved. And she was sent away to a friend after the Spring Festival. We fed her with three pieces of sausage every day and milk. It is not cheap to have a pet dog. We had it for about three months before she was given away to our friend.

Well, owning a dog takes a lot of responsibilities. You have to consider a lot of factors before you decide to get a dog. Small breeds are cute, but most of these small dogs are also highly strung. And don't think that small dogs needs a lot less exercise than the large breeds. Some small breeds are very active and also needs a lot of exercise. You have to look at the history of the breeds because some small breeds are really working type and are bred to work all day. The age of the dog should also be considered. A juvenile dog or puppy will be very destructive if left on its own. Older dogs tends to be less active. So, don't rush to get a dog, ask around, do some research and think things over. It would save you a lot of trouble later on.

Since it's your first dog, I would recommend you the shi tzu. They are very cute and smaller dogs compared to others. I like them because they are very sweet. It's when you truly appreciate their presence in you life. Enjoy.

Without hesitation I would recommend a Golden Retriever. A fantastic breed of dog; That is if you have enough room for a large dog and you are not allergic to dog hair. To me, the positives far out-way the negatives.

For me,dog hair will be another concern as I may be sick of by the mass hair drop from the dogs.lol.Thanks for sharing.

I'd recommend a mixed-breed dog. I have one, and I've known people who've had them, and they just seem both physically and mentally more stable and all around healthier than pure breds. If genetics and papers and lineage doesn't matter to you, then you can find yourself a nice mixed breed and not have to worry about inherent diseases and stuff like that. I'd suggest, however, if you do go for a mixed breed, to look up how different dogs act, and pick two-three dog breeds that you think you'd like, and then try to find a mixed breed that is a mix of those two-three. That way you partially know what you're getting into. Either way, if you decide on a mixed, make sure you find out what breeds the parents were, because then you'll have a better idea of what size, how energetic, and how trainable the dog will be.

Well it depends a lot on what size dog you want? Do you want a dog that will love to sit in your lap? If so then shih tzu and maltese dogs are nice but they are long haired. Do you want long hair or short hair? Long haired dogs take a lot more looking after as they need constant grooming. Do you want a dog that is active? I personally would love to have a German Shepherd but I would not be active enough for such a dog. They need lots of exercise and I am not well now so I cannot exercise very much. If you like small dogs there are lots both long and short hair. There are the toy breeds like maltese. My favorite in this area is a cavalier spaniel they have lovely natures and are very loyal but the pure breeds are also likely to have things wrong with them. I had one years ago and she was sick all her life. I find that crossbreeds are much healthier. They have better immune systems and are stronger. I had a maltese/shih tzu cross that lived for 12 years. Lovely dog, very active and very affectionate.

Wow,thanks v much for the very very details introduction.I just figure out the name of my favourite one:Schnauzer, the smaller sort.Coz I saw them many many time in the TV show,so lovely and loyal the dogs are~`How do you think? For other sorts you recommend,I would like to have the German Shepherd as the 2nd choose, coz you'll spend more time with them for exercising and trainning,I don't have so much time in the daytime. Furthermore,I don't like the dogs need constant grooming.~~As well,I find the maltese dogs like really lovely~`OMG,So many good choose in front of me~ Let's cool down and thanks again for your responses~`lol
