all these years ther were lots of talk about federer being the best ever player to play tennis. now it seems a far superior player has emerged in the form of Rafel Nadal. now its time we can consider him the greatest ever tennis player in the open era. his alround athletism is incomparable with any playaer of any era. the he is dominating tennis on any kind of surfaces, be it grass or clay, underlines his superiority

Nadal is definitely up there, but I disagree that he is the best ever. Although his game is good, he depends a lot on running, which helps him a lot on many points. This will shorten his prime. He already has some knee problems. Like randomly it has started bleeding during a match. This is a definite concern. Federer on the other hand dominates the point by producing shots that send his opponents off the court and then he finishes the point. His excellence in every aspect of the game makes him a great player.

Rafael is definitely one of the all time greats in the making. He is so young and so confident and winning everything in sight now. The Wimbledon final against Federer probably was the indication of the end of the Federer-era and the beginning of the Nadal-era. I think more than anything his stamina and power dominate the court. Cheers! Ram

you cannot just define greatness in just an instance.. it takes time to develop one great player, you need to have more trophies and in tennis, many grand slams to take home is what it all that matters. as of this moment, nadal has yet to pass half way of the record 14 grand slams. although he displayed good tennis this year by beating federer in the last two grand slams but that's just it, he still have to prove so many things to achieve the fate of what the rest of great tennis players. nadal has so much potential to succeed but that remains to be seen in the coming days.

Well, this is a good topic to discuss......... It is too early to say that Rafael Nadal is the best ever teenis player that the world have ever seen...... IF he wins all the grand slams slated for the next couple of years, then i would say that Rafael Nadal is the best..... Then too, one cannot forget about the achievements of Roger Federer, Pete Sampras, Bjorn Borg, Boris Becker, Andre Agassi,etc.... Right now, I would like to consider Pete Sampras as the best tennis player.
