All of us belong to different states, different countries and different religions. The way we pray and worship is different from the others. People of the same religion but different countries also have different ways of worshiping God. I have always been eager to know about the different ways of worship followed by different people and I think this is a nice place I have got to know more about different religions. So all you mylotters, could you share with me about the way you worship in your family? What religion do you belong to and how often and how do you pray? Is prayer just reading from a book for you?

i belong to the religion of Christianity. i always try to make it an effort to pray every morning after i woke up and before i sleep. prayer to god definitely need to go through some thinking. as to whether or not it really requires the help of god or it is just a basic prayer of giving thanks.

I too am a Christian but was married to a Hindu. I pray every morning and night but not a book prayer. For me prayer is a conversation with God and I talk to him about all my joys and sorrows every day. And I go to Church every Sunday and on weekdays if possible.

I am a Christian Too. Please take knowledge about one thing, CHRISTIANITY is NOT A RELIGION. God didn't come to earth to create a Religion called Christian. Christianity means You belong to CHRIST. You have found the true Saviour. Also being a Christian is to Obey Everything that THE BIBLE teaches us to. the Bible says, those who worship God must worship him in spirit and in truth. Our prayers to God must be passionate and must comes from the heart. He hears your voice and he'll wipe away your tears if you truly pray and worship him with all your heart. Worship in Spirit or From the Heart means must be Sincere. Worship in Truth that is according to the Word of God, which is the TRUTH. If we do this prayer, surely surely he will hear us and MAY GOD BLESS YOU and GIVE YOU AN EXPECTED BLESSING.

I follow the Hindu form of worship. We have many gods and there are different myths and beliefs associated with each god.I offer my prayers in the morning and evening ,everyday at home, after having a bath. There are some verses we recite which has been handed down by our ancestors.I also go to the temple and pray when ever I feel like it,along with my family. Also all family functions in our homes take place after offering prayers to the deity.

This form of worship is followed by my inlaws and my son too! I visit the temple and the church regularly. In fact I have liked visiting temples since childhood. And now being married into a hindu family I do not feel uncomfortable at all.

Mayka, I'm a Hindu by birth. The religious beliefs of most of my family members are more spiritual than religious in nature. I believe that the answer lies within in us. So look within yourself and you will get your answer. Meditating with this concept is what i would probably look at as the way to reach God.

I am a Catholic married to a Hindu. I have been visiting temples from the time I was a kid. In fact my whole family would actively take part in the Ganesh Chaturthi and Durga Pooja celebrations in the colony. So religion has never been an issue with me at all. Give me any quite place and I can sit and pray there. Yes as you say Meditation is the best way to reach God.

Worshiping god is simple just pray and doing deeds is enough. Jesus teaches us to pray to God. Don't worship other Gods besides me that was Jesus told them. If you are in old testament times it would be different - sacrificing of lamb and burning of incest. In New Testaments christians attend church, rejoicing and praying by singing christian songs every sunday or saturday.

I am a muslim and we muslims have to pray five times a day before our Lord. We have to prostrate before him. Praying is not merely a ritual to a muslim. You pray as if he is standing right in front of you and that he knows what is in your hearts. Reading the holy Qur'an the final testament sent down to mankind after the Bible and Torah is also a form of worship. You get rewarded 10 good deeds for every letter that you recite!!. From the moment you wake up to the time you go to sleep their is potential to worship god and he will reward you accordingly. Because at the end of the day you are going to die and stand in front tof him and answer for your deed and this will ultimately lead to eternal bliss in heaven or eternal pain in hell.

I did not know much about your form of worship till now because I think nobody has been able to explain it more beautifully to me than the way you have done now. Thanks a lot. Is there any online site where I could get to know more about this?

Thank you for showing an interest in this religion. It is good to see that you do not follow what is portrayed in the media about this peacefully religion. The actual meaning of Islam is peace!!. There are many sites you could go to on the internet but here are a few that i think you and other readers who do not know that much about the religion of Islam might like to read. www.introductiontoislam.org. This is a website that shows the fundamentals of our religion and could answer any questions that non-muslims have. www.miraclesofthequran.com/scientific_index.html This is a website that shows the miracles mentioned in the quran over 1400 years ago which scientists across the globe have only recently found out about! A real eye opener to those that do not know about Islam! I hope you get the time to visit these websites and hopefully it will increase the understanding of Islam for anyone who goes on them.

I belong to a christian religion. In a week, I attended two (2) worship service. Our church schedule is every Thurday and Sunday. And if thanksgiving is approaching already. We are asked by our minister to join with the prayer. one week prayer before thanksgiving. It is usually done every morning, if not in the evening. Members of the church also is divided in to two worship, which means to say kids worship service is separated from the olds. So that kids, could catch up easily the scriptures teaching.

I am very much in India like you. I am a Catholic married to a Hindu. So we have the incense sticks and diya and the candles in our house. I visit the temples too sometimes and go to church every sunday. For me just a few moments in silence in the temple or church is enough to communicate with God.

I'm from the philippines and my religion is roman catholic, which is the religion of most filipinos. Me and my family pray the rosary everyday and I go to church, well at least I try to, every sunday. I also pray before i go to sleep. It doesnt really matter how you pray as long as you're sincere in your prayers. For me, it's better if your prayers come from your heart and not from a book.

I'm a Christian and a Roman Catholic. We worship God by celebrating mass in Church. We sing hyms praising god, have readings from the bible and also other pray activities. At home I very rarely pray and I'm really busy and kind of lazy too. But I make it a point without fail to go to church at least once a week that is on a Saturday or a Sunday, pray and thank God for everything that he has given me. Prayer is not just reading a book. Pray is an intercession with God or rather talking to god. If you have a general chat with god that could also mean prayer.

I am a Hindu, but I follow only Vedic Religion. Eventhough it has close similarities with Hindusism it is a different breed altogether. Only few individual take interest in vedic religion. Here there are no temples, no priests and no scriptural rules of how to worship god. It teaches us to be knowledgeable, good oneself and to others human beings and to all living and non-living creatures. Every act of ours should be a prayer.
