My computer has slowed down drastically lately. I don't know much about computers, but am trying to do a disk clean up. Does anyone know what J2SE Runtime Enviroment 5.0 update 8 is used for? It uses 145.00MB space on my PC. Is this something that I can safely delete from my comp without ruining anything?

The Java software that you mention makes me a little suspicious, because apart from being used for other processes it is widely used for Peer to Peer programs such as Limewire etcetera. If you are running a program such as Limewire to download from the internet then that is most probably the cause of your problems, because peer to peer links you directly to other people's computers and you can download a lot of problems. Nevertheless, if you have only recently found your computer slowing down then you can simply turn the clock back to before the problem occurred by using System Restore.

Remove system services which u dont require. Disabling system restore will gain u lots of extra HDD space...

That's Java. You can safely remove it if you want but there are certain websites and programs that we use on the internet that requires that program like limewire and other applications. You can try removing other programs which are not usuable for you. determine those programs to be removed. Another option is to put additional RAM for your better/faster computer. Use free ram booster/cleaner which you can download on the internet. Hope this helps.
