what does age have to do with it?

The reason I ask this question is because sometimes I feel that people of an older age think they are more intelligent than I or anybody lesser in age. Now not every person is like this, but I have ran into people in my life and even here on mylot and it makes me mad that some people insult my intelligent's just because their older than me. Now I believe that people who are older than me are more knowledgeable than I am becomes they have been alive longer but as more intelligent I sometimes find thats not the case. I see intelligent's as how you use the knowledge that you have on a certain subject... But the the main question that I what to know is.."Does people's age here on Mylot or in general change the way you feel or think about there opinion?

You use the word intelligence several times but you have refused to use the word experience. With age comes experience. Therefore age would restrict answers. It depends on the question. Such as relationships. An 18 year old doesn't have a lot of experience. They will not be able to provide as much as someone who is 40 with more experience. If someone can not construct a proper sentence then I may discredit their knowledge. There are also members of this site who claim they are intelligent. But their words are garbage and they don't take the time to use proper grammar or spell words correctly. I can only think that they are not around intelligent people if they claim to be so smart. Because they are judging themselves by their peers which is the worst way to determine one's intelligence.

Good Point... Experience can play a big factor in a lot of discussions... Most of the discussions I start though I ask what do other people think... So I get a lot of different responses as I'm sure you do... And then its up to everyone to take the responses in anyway they see fit... So in certain situations a person my accept another's response with less experience, instead of an experienced response because the first person with less experience might have said what they wanted to hear at the time.. But I do agree that experience can play a roll in in response, but a lot of people just ask for other's opinions regardless of the experience or even intelligence... Good Point though

My age doesn't bother me and I hope it doesn't bother anyone else here either I am as old as I feel or as youn as I feel and intelligence is not related to age in my opinion. Who knows how old users are anyway? Here we are in cyber space right? Judging by what is stated in a profile is not very intelligent Happy posting!

I agree can't always believe 100% of what people say on the internet.

The old feel youth discounts their experience, "they just don't get it." The young feel they are talked down to by the old, "whipper snappers." I guess there are some conflicts. But, on MyLot, I don't normally bother to check someone's self-reported age. What they say is either insightful.. or not so much so. I like to be fair.

I think it'd depend what their opinion is on- but generally, no, age should not matter because it IS an opinion usually, not always looking for a totally correct answer.
