Anyone have any experience with both brands? Which one is better and why?

I know many photographers who have switched from Canon to Nikon, but I don't know of a single photographer who has switched from Nikon to Canon! My mom works as a professional photo editor, and edits photos taken by both Canon and Nikon DSLRs every day. She says across the board the Nikon images look significantly better. The photos taken with Nikon cameras have better tonal value, better dynamic range and nicer colors. She says photos taken with Canon cameras look dull. Of course, that can be fixed in Photoshop! But she says that photos taken with Nikon cameras need a lot less editing than cameras taken with Canons. So if you don't want to spend a lot of time editing your photos in Photoshop, get a Nikon!

I depends on what you are photographing. I do a lot of sports action photos and see very few Nikon Cameras when I am shooting. Between the two it depends upon what your main shooting will be and what "feels" good to you.

If you ask ten people you will get 25 different answers. I agree it it like buying a BMW or a Mercedies. Both are top of the line cameras that will deliver depending on what you want to do. I perfer Canon because I do a lot of sports photography and I think that Canon is better then Nikon. My brother has a Nikon point and shoot and love it. I had a point and shoot Nikon and gave it to my sister in law because I did not like it. She loves it and enjoys taking pictures with it. Look at them and hold them and if possible try them out and see for yourself.

Cannon and Nikon just like BMW and Mercedes in automobile. I use both of them and I feel not much different. Canon and Nikon is about the same standard. However since Canon is more choice of low end digital camera compared to Nikon, than Nikon is more exlusive for professional photographer. Again Canon and Nokon are the same in the same class of camera.
