Here's another email i got from a friend...why we should drink lots of water everyday. it is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up in the morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven its value. For old and serious diseases as well as modern diseases, water treatment had been found successful by a Japanese medical society as 100% cure for the following diseases: headache, body ache, arthritis, palpitations, epilepsy, obesity, bronchitis asthma, TB meningitis, kidney and urine problems, vomiting, gastritis, diarrhea, diabetes, constipation, all eye diseases, cancer and menstrual disorders, ears, nose, throat diseases. METHOD OF TREATMENT: 1.as soon as you get up in the morning, before brushing your teeth drink 4 glasses of water. (others drink about 8 glasses of water in the morning) 2.brush and clean your mouth but do not drink anything for 45mins. 3. after 45mins. you may eat or drink as normal 4.after 15 mins of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for 2hrs 5. those who are old and sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses in the beginning may start out with a little water and gradually increasing it to 4 glasses per day. the above method of treatment will cure diseases and enjoy a healthy life. THE LISTS BELOW SHOWS THE NUMBER OF DAYS OF TREATMENT TO CURE/REDUCE/CONTROL MAIN DISEASES: 1. high blood pressure- 30days 2.gastric- 10days 3.diabetes- 30days 4.constipation - 10days 5.cancer- 180days 6.TB- 90days 7.arthritis patients should follow the above treatment for 3 days in the 1st week then on the 2nd week onward - daily. THIS HAS NO SIDE EFFECT EXCEPT FOR FREQUENT URINATION WHICH IS GOOD SO TO FLUSH OUT ALL TOXINS IN OUR BODY. For those who like drinking cold water: i know it's refreshing and all, however, drinking cold water will solidify the oily stuff you have just consumed.it will slow down the digestion. once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will breakdown and be absorbed by the intestines faster than the solid food. very soon, this will turn itno fats and will lead to cancer. it is best to drink hot soup or, hot tea or warm water after every meal.

That sounds wonderful... and really really difficult. I can only drink one glass of water after waking up and another glass of water around 15 minutes after that. I would like to drink much more since water is zero calories. It's not only a way to treat my gastritis (I'm terribly acidic), it also helps me eat less since I'm too full to eat much after I drink water.

While I am sure there is no harm in drinking water first thing in the morning, aside from preventing dehydration (and some of these illnesses cold be side effects of dehydration) I can't see any other health benefits to it. Do you have a link to the study that shows this?

The sites are interesting, but fail to site the studies these recommendations are based on. There is a diet recommendation on one of those links that is not particularly varied, and doesn't seem to have enough protein or calcium sources listed. The recommendation of taking salt with your water could be dangerous- most American's have a pretty high sodium intake (which is also unhealthy) and taking additional salt the way described would be very unhealthy for those persons.

i heard that drinking water will reduce intake of other food which in turn help in reducing the weight. i do not agree that drinking water will cure the diseases which were mentioned.

When I got this email some months ago, I was very much interested and excited. Then I tried to research this idea but found nothing except others that posted same. If in Japan a lot of people were doing this with good results there would be more information. I found none. So I think this is a hoax. Not to say that water is not important. But that water can actually cure anything but dehydration is without any scientific grounds. Now I only drink 1 glass of water every morning on awakening. When I exercise I drink water before, during and after. If I notice that I'm not urinating enough or that urine is dark in color than I drink water. If not, since I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables fresh and uncooked, I have all the water I need. And the best quality of water possible. I call it living water. From my own experience I find that the body is the only thing that can cure anything. Of course the more pollution one puts into the body the more water is needed. For example when one eats salty foods. As one nutritionist says, "the solution to pollution is dilution", and that's what water does. This is only my opinion.
