Do you like to invite people over to your house, either for a party/dinner or to stay over for a day or so? I am not unsociable, but I don't really enjoy it. There seems to be so much to be done - the shopping for food, thinking of what dishes to cook, the preparations, and after that the cleaning up. Even having guests over to stay, I've to think about the places to take them, what to do or eat. And after that, cleaning up again! How about you? Do you like having guests at your place?

Yup, you describe it perfectly - your getaway from it all. That's what I feel too - besides the reason that I'm simply too lazy and seldom could work up enough enthusiasm or energy to go through the preparations of a party.

I'm not the the person that goes and visits much myself. I'm glad to have friends and family over for a social day, including lunch or dinner. When people come up from down south I have them here at my house. I have more room than my daughter does and she (and her family) is the only other family I have here. I love having parties and doing things on the holidays and having family and friends over.

Hi, I gather you enjoy having company at home - wish I could be sociable too, and all that energy! Maybe I've seeing too many people at work - so I'm guarding my peace and quiet at home jealously! Thanks for sharing - enjoy your day!

I'm alone a good bit of the time, so it's nice to have company over to have someone to talk to and spend time with. I'm sorry that you don't have the time for company. I too don't have much energy as my health really has me down most of the time. I hurt a lot, but having people over helps me to forget this for awhile. Even if I hurt more because of the extra activities.

I do like it but I think that's because it happens so rarely. I live at the end of the bus route. After my house there is nothing unless you have a car. The bus runs very infrequently out here so people don't often pop by. I think I would like it less if people could just come over but getting to Belchertown is difficult if you don't have a car, which most of my friends don't.

Hi, I guess for you, gatherings and get-togethers would be fun; since they can't just pop in anytime they like! Thanks for responding and have a good weekend!

No, I am not a sociable person. But, I do like company at times. But it is very selective.. I don't want others coming over my home, who have snide remarks to make. I can't stand sarcasam. I just like company on my own terms.. I don't like seeing someone everyday that is for sure.

Yup, I agree - there are people who just can't keep their mouths shut, if they have nothing good to say. When that happens, I don't know whether I should practise good manners and smile, or lash back! So I seldom extend invitations to anyone else to visit me; only my family members and one or two close friends. Thanks for responding and have a good weekend!

Well, I don't really have to invite people over to my place since they are the one suggesting they want to come over. I don't know but since I was little, our house is always full of people coming in and out. Others says this is good luck to us because it means that the chi (or whatever they call it in Chinese) is in our house always welcoming good fortunes and so far, I can say that we have been extremely lucky in our house. We have guest almost everyday and when it is fiesta, birthday or Christmas time, our average visitor is like 100. What do you think, are we just friendly or there are really a house that invites people over?

Hi Anne, your friends must have loved you or your house very much; to be visiting you so often. I think you must be popular with them, and really good at entertaining your guests! Thanks for responding and have a good weekend!

i only invite people to come over in my place if the schedule that we have are free for my and I are busy as of this days especially during Ramadan and most of this time my family member would always like to come over without an invitation for me for it is a tradition here in Kuwait to come over often when it is Ramadan time......

Hi Iyah, family members are fine - though we usually visit my parents, as they don't drive. It's only those family members that I am not close with (my hubby's); that is a bit tiresome being a hostess! Thanks for sharing, and have a great weekend!

Hi Carla, I'm glad that you look for people around you when you're depressed. At least you enjoy the company of friends who will cheer you up. I'm terrible - I would isolate myself in such situations.

I do enjoy having friends over for dinner occasionally but it is a lot of work. I am hopeless at planning and preparing dinner parties but I do love to have friends chatting around a dinner table. In my case I am lucky in that my partner is a retired chef so he thinks up the meal and does all the cooking, I just have to do the cleaning and washing up etc. I do not mind that so much. He is also a retired musician and many of our friends are musicians and it can be nice to have a pleasant meal and a few drinks and then have a nice jam session between the musicians. I do like that.

Ohh, you are so fortunate to have someone thinking up the recipes and doing the cooking. And I would envy your energy to do the cleaning up after the dinner! To me, it is still a lot of work!

When I am get invited by friends and relatives at their places for lunch or dinner or to stay with them It is but natural I also invite them but it become so much for my wife to do kitchen disturbing all our schedule. Most cumbersome is after party chores of washing dishes and then rearranging them. It take a lot of time for her. While she washes I help her stacking in the cabinets. How do u see it.Please comment and have a nice day.

Yup, I sometimes feel that I'm obligated to return that favour of inviting them for a meal. So I would most probably invite them for lunch or dinner at a restaurant - this will save me the trouble of preparing, cooking and cleaning! It's too much work, and I don't really enjoy having people over! Thanks for sharing, and have a good day!

I do enjoy having people come over even just for to hang out. Maybe watch a movie or whatever. But alot of my friends and family don't live close to me to even come over to hang out. So I really don't have people come over lately just to hang out although I would like to have people come over.

It depends, if it is my boyfriend and friends, then I do not care, if it is family or people I have never really met, then that depends on the people. Some of my family members can be snobs, and those people I rarely invite over, the ones who are down to Earth, they are free to come and visit whenever.

Yup, I also don't like having snobbish people over, even if they are relatives! I don't know what to do with them; after all I don't feel like entertaining them!

I like having guests... but not very often... like only twice a year... like you... i feel that it is too tiring to have them stay over for a long time... a dinner or lunch would be great... we can catch on the events in our lives... but if i allow that to happen a lot... then i might go bankrupt... and my health will be affected with all the cleaning and preparation that i have to make... I live with my baby in an apartment... so i do everything... guests once in a while is a good break... but too often is not good for me...

Hi Aseretdd, I think most of us like having guests around once in a while - but thinking of the preparations and cleaning up just nix the idea! And if you have a baby to take care of, it's even more work! Yup, just having some people (2-3 the most) over for tea/coffee is good enough for me. I don't want to think about preparing lunch or dinner - just take them out to restaurants or stores!

i don't... because as what have you said, there are so many things to be done- food preparations, entertaining, cleaning up the mess, etc... plus, my flat isn't big enough to accommodate guests...

Hi Gracie, when I was staying in an apartment, I didn't invite anyone over, only my sister. She would stay over on weekends and it didn't matter if the place was messy - anyway she helped to clean up.
