How would you feel if your post/discussion are similar to others?

sometimes I feel annoyed that I saw some of my discussions are similar to other post, and to think that I did the first post, i felt being copied...but then I should not judge it that way, maybe it was just accidentally. Should mylot will do something that would reject similar discussion or is it the person who posted the topic to do the right to delete his/her post if she/he already see it that it is the same with the other post? What domyou think?

Good Day... I would let it go. It couldn't be helped most of the time. There are thousands of members here so naturally discussions have it's way of being repeated and re-discussed. My discussions are sometimes the same with the others whether I'm the first to post or they did doesn't really matter.

Prime example, I posted the same post you did Sharie, this morning. Wording is different, but the meaning is the same. It happens, so do not feel bad. I basically said, that I can post a topic one day, and someone else will post the same thing and get many responses for the same topic. I guess if you checked the tag words and did a search there would not be too many duplicate discussions. I do not know if everyone does that. I know that I do not. I am not annoyed that your post is similiar to mine.

it's ok dear...i think i should be fair enough that it's not our intention posting topic that are similar to others, and it should really be a discussion what we really made and not just rephrasing other discussion...so dont worry dear, as long as it is your own words and don't have intention, it's ok... anyway, thanks for being honest... keep posting! God bless! +rating

I think it's no big deal as long as it wasn't done with malintent. Though if I see another discussion about whether I prefer a bath or shower I may need to boycott for a while! I'm guessing mylot just doesn't have the time/employees to do that level of quality control.

Many people repeat posts just for the "detailing points".. And The money benefit! Yes. That is the main thing! the way you juge is right and appropriate! You are correct because people are only posting because they get paid. Thats the main reason everyone uses this site.

I won't feel sad or unhappy if i see a similiar post, because i'm not the only one in mylot, and there are so many other members in mylot too, and so its inevitable ^_^ BUt for those who purposely copy and paste discussions, those ple are the ones i hate because they are too lazy and just wanna copy ideas without even wanna think.. As for deleting of similiar posts, we or mylot should not do that, because it will affect mylot, and if ple like newbies or even u, whom only knows about mylot recently, and u try to post new discussion but it getting deleted as there are similiar posts, i guess soon u will just give up and leave mylot right?? SO if there's similiar post, it's up to other members to decide which post they wanna respond to, and that's y we have frenz in mylot, frenz will respond to the discussions we start and thsu we wun be afraid of discussion with no response ^_^

Well it is hard to say that the person copy your discussion but i guess one way of avoiding it from happening again is think about a topic that is not usually asked by most people. Something that is not too common. What i notice about most topic here is that they are too common. By doing that you can be sure that it is unlikely to happen that you have similar posted topic with other members.

It will just give me a sense to try to be different and creative while writing, I havn't found ones similar to mine, I write what's on my mind, and I don't think anyone thinks my way, so it comes out to be a totally different thing. My feeling will be shocking one, to see someone similar to my thinking. Well is that possible? till now, havn't.

Shared culture! Professional writers have the same feeling when an editor says, "I've gotten that proposal 15 times in the past 3 weeks." We see the same phenomenon in Hollywood as themes sweep through the writing community, even when no one is collaborating on a script. We humans understandably feel quite individual. If you happen to live in a Western society (like the U.S.), that sense of individuality is emphasized even more. So, it's then hard for us to accept that when we share a culture, we also share common reactions to it. That means... we think alike. Take the role of the anthropologist and you'll be able to spot the trend. Humans are naturally group-oriented. They create and share culture. They end up thinking alike.

It is rather difficult to not have similar posts, as there are so many of them. I'm sure I have done it in the past. In fact someone pointed out to me the other day that I had made a similar post to someone else. They said to look around a bit, and make sure there aren't similar ones, which I thought I did. A delete option would be great, if something like that does happen.

I think we may start discussions with similar topics, as long as we take it from different angles and not just copy paste them. I also think that only the myLot admin has the power to delete discussions. But we have the power to nominate we think violates the guidelines by reporting the discussion as an abuse. But I never have pushed that button. As you have said, maybe it is just accidental. Have a nice day!

I have received many responses to my discussions that they were just to write on it but I have snached the words from their mouth and hands. Then I am very much exited and I have a feelings there are people of my taste and feelings. Then I have and I am proud of my writings. Ho9w do you feel it please comment.

Well, Sharie, just don't think too much about it. It happens! I'd just want to believe that others may have similar thoughts to mine; just that we have different ways of expressing it - this way, I won't get upset or stressed up. I try to avoid having similar discussions as others, by cross-checking for similar headings. However I can't be sure that I might forget to check, and turn out one similar to another poster's !

Well there has been many times when I posted a discussion and as I am surfing around I find out someone had something similar and I am like man :0( it was unintentional I did not realize. Many people have different thoughts everyday and I am sure there are many with the same ideas or situations. It is bothersome but I can openly admit that I have encountered that situation with out trying to actually do it.

myLot Guidelines state... Make sure you search for existing topics before starting new discussions. So I try to remember to check on discussions already started & not submit one exactly the same. We now have 143,232 members so it is hard to think of a topic that no one else has started. Personally, I feel that if they don't just copy yours word for word then they did not steal it. I have seen similar discussions; but due to difference in friends, they ended up being completely different discussions. Just because it's the same topic doesn't mean it's the same discussion!!! As long as you post quality discussions, don't worry about others.
