Negative political ads - do they make you more or less likely to vote?

I don't know about you...but I am pretty tired of the climate of the political ads that are running. Wouldn't it be great if they passed some sort of law that political candidates could only talk about themselves -- their record, their experience, their beliefs, their intentions -- and say nothing at all about their opponents? I know it will never happen, but, hey, wouldn't it be great?

Yes! That would be great! Is that a referendum?! I'd vote for it! I guess the political theory is - to demonize your opponent, and the other party - is to get votes.. And I'm thinking it's a vicious circle they've gotten into (being of the silly human race) and they can't get out of it now.. til one side drops it.. though I think that's what Pres. Bush was doing, and it kinda backfired..

It seems to me this year at least both sides - Republican and Democrat - are equally at fault - especially in the state races.
