I think it is not the end of the road for Sourav GAnguly. He has the talent to stage a comeback into the Indian team during the Australia series. He is too good a player to be kept out of action for a long time. He will prove the selectors wrong and let his bat do the talking in the series to come against Australia.

He has the capability to prove his worth for the Indian team and the thing is he had done this thing on a number of occasions in the past. He knows how to make a comeback from a disastrous form. But despite of all these, there are certain things which are not going in his favour. First thing his age. He is already 36, and at this age normally players hang their boots. Secondly he has been quiet for a long time. Thirdly, now even the selectors are banking on young talents and they want the seniors to make their way into the team. So they are likely to start with Saurav. He can prove himself but for that he needs a last chance to make a comeback in the Indian team, which is not likely to happen.

You have a good analysis. But the middle order in the present Indian team is not a dependble one. Sachin are Laxman are sure to deliver goods against the mighty Aussies. But there is a cloud of doubt with regard to players like Dravid and others. Therefore if Ganguly can keep himself fit he can very well fight his way back into the Indian team. Remember how many times Mohinder Amarnath fought his way into the team!
