I am looking for some ideas on EASY homemade halloween costumes. Last year my daughter was a tree~ way too cute! I made it out of a cardboard box. We took colored paper and made all different colored leaves on it....she was cute, but it was very hard for her to walk in. This year we are leaning towards being a pizza~ have no idea how to do that one!! But we are also up for suggestions.

he he he! A pizza huh? I think that is a great idea! I have not seen this one yet, so I am impressed with your daughters idea. I did find a pizza costume online, if you have not seen it yet, maybe it will help. I know a little about sewing, and tons about crafting, so if you need help, just let me know, I will see what I can do to help you.

I never even thought about going online and seeing how to make a pizza costume....that is a great idea. I don't sew at all, but my mother in law does so I suppose if we find something not too complicated I can ask her.

I'm making my girls into spiders and its super cute and really easy and cheap. I bought heavy black trouser socks from the dollar tree and stuffed them with pillow stuffing then I sewed them to a black leotard and am putting them in black tights. If they were older I would use some of those spiders you can glue on your face and stuff and on their hands but I'm afraid they would eat them lol. On their head I want to do a headband and put a black glittery spider web on top with a spider on it but I haven't figured out how to make that just yet.

OMG this sounds adorable!! I am going to see if my daughter wants to try this instead of a pizza. She is funny about wearning anything tight, so that may be my only challenge.. I suppose I could put her in black sweats though.

It sometimes snows here for Halloween, so that is why I was thinking a black sweat suit. I'd have to pick one up soon though...usually you can't find anything in black sweats around Halloween.

You could try just a long sleeve black shirt. It doesn't get too cold here for halloween so we can't use anything hot.

How sweet! Last year Amber was Hannah Montana-- Other years she was a witch, devil, vampire... So I was glad she switched to a girlie girl. :) The tree sounds real fun. The pizza sounds great too! You can sew something to make a pizza. Ghost are easy too!

The tree was easy to make and she looked adoreable! She has decided on a pizza this year. We thought about getting a huge cardboard box, cut it in a big circle, paint it red and then cut out something to look like cheese and pepperoni and glue them on. Then cut out where her face is in the place of a pepperoni. I don't know if it will work..thinking I will bungie it on here:) We have to start early in case it doesn't work and we have to go to plan B.

The tree sounds too cute! I am SO not crafty, so we buy costumes every year. This year my daughter is going to be a butterfly (Gymboree). My son is going to be a football palyer, which is hilarious because he's tiny!!

A butterfly and a football player both sound like great costumes. I hate the ones where they have a mask and the child can't see where he is walking. They are so dangerous.

Yes, I agree. No masks for us!

Martha Stewart once made a witches costume out of some black garbage bags. It was really cool. You just take scissors and cutted jagged edges on the bags and gather it at the waist somehow and you have a cool costume. You can always get one of those witches hats they sell in the store to top it off. I live in the country and get no trick or treaters here, I miss them so much.

I actually have a store bought witches costume and hat that she has worn before. We live in the country too, but I take my daughter to a Halloween party up at the lake. Last year she was told she would have won best homemade costume, but her aunt and cousin were the judges so they didn't want to vote for her!:( She was so sad! This year they aren't judging, so she wants to do another homemade costume. Thanks for the idea of the witch...that does sound easy.

My mother refuse to have mine dress up as a superhero like Superman or star movie for Halloween. I think we must creatively used incredible costumes without superhero costumes. Try broke out the latex and blood, kids face with the blood all over his ripped up clothes. Let’s try to make make the best of incredible Halloween.
