religion doesn't change hearts

Jesus likened the religious Pharisess to a gorup of dishwashers who clean the outside of a cup while the inside dirty. He said, "Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you ar full of greed and wickedness. You foolish people! did not the one who made the outside make the inside also?" (Luke 11:39-40). Jesus knew that a person can change his image without changing his act (Matthew 23:1-3). He knew that religious credentials and ceremony cannot change the heart. He told one of the most religious men of His day that aunleass a person is "born again" by the Spirit, he cannot see the kningdom of God (John 3:3). Yet from that day until now, many of the most religious people in the world continue to forget that while religion can give attention to outward appearance, only Jesus can change the heart.

Yes I agree with you religion will never change a person heart. In fact religion will just make one self-righteous and hypocrite. Unless a person be born again, he can never change.A man has no capability of transforming himself apart from the miracle of the new birth.

When we open our hearts to Jesus and acept Him as our personal Lord and saviour we are new creations the new has come and the old has gone. No religion in this world has the power to change our hearts and can have a profound effect in our lives. Jesus is the only cleanser that can purify our hearts from this dark dark dark world we are in.
