In our world today it is kind of apparent the small and light weight is sexy and good. Usually lighter weight also means cheaper costs for fabrication. What kind of light weight materials for light weight automobiles are you currently aware of? Which of them do you think is the best one. Please share your opinions and knowledge about this topic. I am in the process of choosing my mock thesis topics and the lightweight materials for automobiles is one of my choices. Thanks!

Watch discovery channel : Planet Green. There was this company who specializes in making carbon fiber auto parts that are ultralight and yet studier than steel. Its really fascinating. For instance a regular car door would give you a lot of sweat when you try to lift it but a door made up of carbon fiber has a weight of a large illustration board.

The lightweight cars rarely stand up to even a small accident. I had such a tiny fender-bender that the airbags didn't even deploy. I expected just the slightest dent because I wasn't even jostled in my seat. My car was totaled! The other car had not even a scratch.
