I only like to sleep when I am tired. But my boyfriend is different. My boyfriend always hard to get up from the bed when he is sleeping but one thing very weird is he tend to sleep late at night like 3am or 4am. Sometimes,I feel so confused on whether he likes to sleep or not. When he sleeps,he is hard to wake up. But when he is awake,he is hard to sleep. I tend to grumble about his habit but he never change. Sigh. How about you? Do you like to sleep so much or something like my boyfriend? Please tell me more, thanks in advance.

There's something we call biological clock. This is our body's time mechanism ~ it tells our body when it's tired and sleepy and when it's fully awake. Body clocks change as how we adjust to the times or days. It's like when you're going from one country or area to the other (which has different time zones) you feel jetlag, this is the confusion of the body because it is used to a specific time of sleeping, but then because of your change of time, it's still daytime in one place but your body would like to sleep, and vice versa. So, your boyfriend's body clock has adjusted itself to sleeping late and waking up early. Maybe he has been doing that a lot for years due to work, or his leisure time. That's why he tends to stay up late and of course to counter the need for sleep (like average would sleep 8hours or so) he stays in bed longer. Work could also be a factor for the differences of sleep time. There are those who work graveyard, so their bodies are accustomed to be awake at night and asleep during the day. It takes years of practice to change a body clock because for a few days or months, a person is more likely to experience dizziness and weakness if he abruptly tries to change his sleeping time. As for me, I sleep late (around 10pm the earliest and 2am the latest) and I wake up around 6:30am - 7am.) That's how I go. But I need to take naps in the afternoon. I'm a night person too. My mind tends to work better in the afternoons or nights than in the morning. I may be awake in the morning but my brain doesn't function as much as it does during the night time. =)

I like your response very much and if it was possible I would give you best response for it, but it isn't my discussion so I can't. I am getting older and now at the age of 51 I don't sleep nearly as much as I did when I was 21 or even 31. I don't feel I need more sleep so I don't sleep. I am not tired during the day. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris

Yes I'm also very fond of sleep. But I always believe in going to bed in time (about 10 pm or so) and get up early (about 6 am).

I like to sleep at night but if given a chance I would take a nap in the afternoon. Sometimes I’m like your boyfriend, I tend to sleep late at night and wake up early in the morning. Maybe your boyfriend have a sleeping disorder.

I love to sleep. If there was a sleeping contest I would probably be one of the winners. My husband only sleeps in if he's tired all day. Otherwise he likes to wake up early. I think my daughter took after me. She loves to sleep too. Often, I have to wake her up from her nap or her night time sleep because she always tends to oversleep.

I love to sleep I can sleep all day if I wanted to. It feels so comfortable to sleep. You don't require to use any energy to sleep. I wouldn't want to sleep my life away though.

night owl humor - night owl comic strip- who farted?
I am just like your boyfriend. I am definitely a night owl. I have a hard time getting to sleep at night, just like ur bf I get to bed at about 3am, but once I am asleep I swear I could easily sleep 14 hours. I never really get the chance to though cuz I got work and school. I typically get like 6 hours, sometimes less. My ultimate dream is to never have to wake up in the morning ever again. I think that some of us are just meant to be night people, but society makes us be awake in the day and so it really screws with our sleep cycles, like constant jet lag or something.

Don't grumble too much, this might not be a habit. Sounds to me like he has problems getting to sleep. I can relate to what your saying he does. Sounds like it is hard for him to fall asleep at the normal time most people go to bed, that happens to my boyfriend and then when he does get to sleep its hard for him to get up. I know it can be frustrating, but hang in there.

Hello yenwie84, I also only sleep when I need to. I tried to sleep regularly because if my sleep pattern is disrupted it is so hard for me to get to sleep. I also do sleep soundly, but I am easier to wake up than maybe your boyfriend. I am not like my partner who will be waken by small sound. I don't know she is like a Spartan who sleep ligthly and is watching her surrounding while sleeping. My working hours changes every month so I have to adjust to different sleeping hours every month. I also take naps if I was not able to sleep very well. Your body and eyes tell you that it need a few minutes of sleep and after that I feel better. So sometimes I tried to sleep on the way to work while commuting. It is not a very good habit but my body need it's. Have a beautiful day. Regards.

Hello yenwie84! I like to sleep a lot. It is actually a luxury for me. I usually sleep late at night and wake up early in the morning. I do not get to sleep for 8 hours as I should. When there's no work, I would sleep for as long as I want. Same thing is true when I do not have plans to go out on a Saturday night. I would sleep a little earlier on a Saturday night and wake up a little late on a Sunday morning.

I don't really sleep too much because of pain. I have chronic mechanical neck and back pain with nerve damage from a flip at work and on top of that I tore the glenohumeral tendon in my right shoulder and I have a frozen left shoulder. Therefore, when I am trying to sleep I can't stay on my back too long because the pain intensifies in my neck and back and then the burning nerve pain goes down my left arm. So then I turn on my right side for awhile and my shoulder ends up slipping out so then I go to the left side and then my night is done because the pain is too much for me to stay laying down. I have been dealing with this pain since december 2005 and it ain't geting any better. The pain meds only help minimally for about 2 hours so I don't know what else I can do but stay up. I even wait till I am practically falling over from being so tired so that I can sleep for at least 4 hours; other than that I don't get much sleep.

I used to be a big sleeper and used to love to sleep. I could sleep through anything back then and I could sleep anywhere. I just loved to sleep. But I couldn't because I had two kids at a very young age, and I had to take care of them so I had to stay awake when I would much rather have been sleeping. Now my kids are grown adults themselves and I can sleep whenever I want, pretty much, but don't. I don't love to sleep anymore. I only sleep because I have to sleep. And I am not a good sleeper because I am going through menopause and I have hot sweats and I wake up several times because of them. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris
