One year we really went all out. It was the first year I had my gravestones. So we did the whole front yard up like a cemetery and I spent a fortune on dry ice which of course looked like a swirling foggy mist around the headstones. We had 'haunted house music' playing loudly out the window... wolves howling, chains rattling, thunder, insane laughter, that type of stuff, and my daughter was sitting on the porch in a witch costume with her face painted green and a huge fake nose on with a very high witches hat and a bowl of candy in her lap. It was really a spectacular production, but nobody was coming to our house! I saw people crossing the street to go to the other side when there was nothing over there but the backsides of dark houses! I finally understood when a group of kids came to the corner and one of them said loudly to his friends "I'm not going to THAT house!!" His friends all agreed and they crossed over to walk on the side of the street where there was nothing but darkness! Hehehehe, we had scared them all away!

Thank you so much for sharing that with us. I love it! I will have to figure out what to do different this year. I normally have a party, but think this year I will go without a party, and just have fun decorating and seeing what I can figure out to scare the life out of others, he he Thanks so much for adding to this dicussion Nocturnica
