resulted in my losing a tooth ! i had a root canal done on my tooth in april. last week, i told my dentist that it seemed loose. well, it was loose all right. the entire tooth and post came out ! i couldn't find it on the floor under my desk, but one of my cats did. i just called the dentist to tell them and make an appointment and, of course, their computers are down. gone are the days of appointment books that are manually kept. how many of you have had to call back to a doctor, or some where else, because the computers were down?

i think we americans might pitch a fit and our shoe if the ATM didn't work. we americans are so spoiled. after the 9-11 shock, people had to report to airports earlier, bring their passports to go to canada, take off their shoes for inspection, not pack anything that had gel in it. i heard people complaining bitterly about wasting their time. even though it made it safer. i guess we would HAVE to learn to live with it like you guys do.

Hi Mommasam, In fact I had this happen twice today. I rang to get pet insurance for my new puppy and they asked if they could phone me back as their system was down at the moment, which they did late morning and then when I went to check bank balance I was unable to log in as they had computer problems and to try again later. I get really annoyed with doctors and dentists though as I have to arrange to have toothache or be ill well in advance which is just not on eh! Huggles. Ellie :D

I have that happen to me with the computer thing. It is very frustrating especially when you are concerned about something. You want to have it resolved as soon as possible and you have to wait for a stupid machine. I am sure you were very upset about losing a tooth, I am sure I would have been and the last thing you needed to hear was, "Can you call back later." I probably would have put it in milk (that is what I red you should do), and driven to the dentists office that moment. There are some things that just can't wait. I hope you were able to get it fixed.

I had to, doesn't seem to be a rare occasion either, and it's not limited to just one doctor's office, lol. Another thing that bugs me is our pediatricians office. Until babies are two they need several check-ups. The interval just like for example at 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 months. But can I just schedule an appointment for the next check-up when I'm there for the current one? No! They only schedule two months in advance, please call in a month... Blows my mind.

haha this happens a lot here in the philippines. like in banks, you would come in to do a transaction only to be turned away because the network is down or offline. also on atm machines, sometimes when you are in a hurry and you need to make a transaction only to find that the machine is offline... it's really annoying. i guess technology advancement goes both ways. it can make things faster and more convenient, but at the same time, new problems (or different versions of an old problem) are created.

see, i guess i am spoiled ! once i got used to being able to do things quickly, i ASSUME it will always be that way. it didn't take me long to get spoiled either. i remember the days of writing a doctor's appointment in a big black book. not relying (or not having) a computer.

This my 1000 post. I haven't had a problem with a doctor or dentist because of computer being down. But I have had a problem with them not calling me telling things like they have changed the time of opening the office. I had an appointment for 7:30 am one morning for blood work, I arrived at the office at 7:15am and no one showed up until 8:15 am, they did not even try to explain why they were late. Then the nurse that did the blood work had quit, they had no one to take the blood, one patient just left I asked questions, I ask why they didn't call us and let us know to this day I haven't gotten an answer, they just rescheduled me.

this is nothing short of plain rude ! even if the nurse had quit at 5pm the night before, they could have called you. sometimes i shake my head at people not "owning" a problem.
