What time does your children get up and go to bed on a daily routine?

I'm starting this discussion because I am curious. Well I have a 2 year old and he will most of the time go to bed at 8:30-9:00 and will wake usually about 7:00-8:30. But on other days he will sometimes go to bed between 10:00-11:30 and still get up about 7:00-8:30. I'm not sure why he does this but he does. Although I dont know how to get him to go to bed at a normal hour and get up at a decent hour. I'm worried that he's not getting the sleep he needs to grow healthy. Although I will say no matter on how many hours of sleep he gets he is full of energy from the moment he wakes up to the moment he falls asleep. Is this normal? Any ideas out there will be very helpful. So what are your children's normal routine?

During school days my child takes his sleeps at around 830-900 because he has to go to school at around 7pm that means he has to wake up 6am to prepare himself to school. But during Friday and Saturday anything goes since there is no school the following day.

My 8 year old gets around 8 - 9 hours of sleep a night. He goes to bed around 9 - 10pm and gets up at 6:45 am for school. My 19 month old daughter gets a total of around 13 hours of sleep. She will go to bed around 7 - 8 pm and get up at 7 am. She will also take a nap for 1-3 hours during the day. According to webMD, 1 - 3 year old children should get 12-14 hours per day of sleep. Most children from about 21-36 months old still need one nap a day, which may range from one to three and a half hours long. They typically go to bed between 7 - 9 p.m. and wake up between 6 - 8 a.m. It is important to be regular (but not necessarily rigid) with bedtimes and naptimes and consistent with your routines or rituals. http://www.webmd.com/parenting/guide/how-much-sleep-do-children-need?page=4

Thank you for responding. This is where one of my problems come in at. He wont take naps, no matter what I do. Our normal routine day is we try to go to the park everyday when the weather premits it. We have lunch at the park. When we go we also have my 2 sisters and my neice and then my thrid sister will met up with us after school. He use to take naps at about3:30-4:15 while I make supper but that changend. I'm not sure why. I know he stopped takig naps when people started moving in up stairs. And she has children. I'm not sure if this could be the reason for the change or not. And once again thank you for your very much needed help and happy mylotting.

My kids are a little older, 8 and 9, but they don't ever go to bed until at least 10:30 and they wake up about 7 or 8. I think they get enough sleep. I mean, they're healthy and full of energy. I really believe our bodies will let us know how much we need to sleep and as children, they will listen to that where we, as adults, don't pay enough attention to what we need to be healthy.

Most kids have an internal body clock that somehow wakes them up at around the same time. Mine do that, too. Even New Years Eve, when they make it to midnight, they'll be up between six and seven in the morning. Unlike us, who normally just turn to the other side and try to get some more sleep when somehow awakened, kids seem to be up and ready to go, lol. Don't worry, he still seems to be just fine. Does his nap run a bit longer on days where he got to bed a little later the night before? Kids somehow tend to make it up. Don't worry too much about it. This is really not bad. Mine go to bed between seven and eight (all three, they are 7, 5, and 2). My girls have to get up at six to catch the school bus. Because of the noise my little one will wake up latest at seven. Because they are used to getting up at this time they may sleep just about half an hour longer on the weekends. My little one also has a set nap time that he spends in his room. He is supposed to sleep but he is stubborn and not always does it. He may sleep anywhere from 15 minutes to two hours. That all depends on how long he slept the night before, lol. He has to get ready at a certain time to pick up the girls from the bus (which doesn't stop in front of our house but a block down the road). So you see, your little one fits right in;)

i think your son is completly normal.i have 2 kids one is 4 1/2 and the other is 19 months.during the week they have no choice but to get up at 6:30 because we have to take my 4 1/2 to the bus stop for pre-k, my 18 month old may take an hour nap if that sometimes and when my 4 1/2 get home at 1:30 she never naps then when it comes to bed time which i try to make 8:30-9 the 19 month old will sleep but she won't actually go to sleep til about 10pm she just lays there full of energy and then shes hard to get up but not my 19 month old he'll get up at 6am 7 days a week no matter how late you keep him up and on weekends my 4 1/2 she will sleep to 10 am if you let her.i guess all kids are just different because mine are opposites

my kids go to sleep between 8:30p and wake up at 7am or even earlier sometimes. on the weekends i let them stay up a little to watch tv, but they always fall asleep before 10pm. i had the same problems with my kids in the beginning, they'd always go to sleep around 11pm because my husband would get home late and they would get all worked up. first since he's only 2 he may still need to take a nap during the day. make sure he only takes 1 nap and no more the 1 hour. wake him up if you have to. if you reduce the time of sleep during the day then you should be able to get him to sleep better. also, start a bedtime routine. my sister does this with her little ones. after dinner it would be bath, brush teeth, story and bed. this takes about a 2 weeks (or 31 days) to get set into it. once he's set, then it should be easy to get him on bed on time. they started this routine with my nephew when he was 2 and its real easy after a while. just keep it up. persistence and repetition is what helps the little ones learn things.

My kids normally go to bed between 8 and 9 every night. It all depends on how good they are earlier in the evening. If my daughter is cranky and has a bad attitude she probably go to bed earlier than my 2 sons. They get up at 6am to get ready for school.

My ten year old and my 8 year old will go to bed at 8:30 on a school night and wake up at 5:30 for school. When its not school they will go to bed about 10:00 or 10:30 and get up between 7:00 and 8:00. My 3 year old will go to bed everyday around 8:30-9:00. and wake up between 8:00 and 9:30. Usually for me to get him to go to bed I will turn out all the lights and I will lay down with him. He realizes with no one up and the lights out he has no choice but to go to bed.

My kids are 4 & 7 and they've been on the same basic schedule since they were about 1 yr old - bedtime is between 8-8:30 and they get up about 7:00-7:30. They never fight us on going to bed any more. They just know it's time. Do they always fall asleep right away? NOOOOOOO. but, they are in bed. Getting your 2 yr old to stay on a schedule is difficult, but you have to set the boundaries NOW! I have a friend who lets her kids stay up til midnight-1am and then they sleep most of the morning. She homeschools, so getting to school isn't a problem, but she never gets any time for herself. Can't go out after the kids are in bed, her husband can't seem to get them in bed and he HAS to go to sleep so he can get to work, etc. So, it's really an important issue. Plus, teaching a child to go to sleep on his own is a life-long "skill" that needs to be taught. Just be consistent with when you put him down for bed. Use the same key words each night so he knows it's sleep time. If he keeps getting up, go back in and go through your key words again. A great resource for these principles is a book called The Baby Whisperer. Good luck!

my son is also 2 years old and he will always sleep along with us and we usually sleep around 11.00pm and i he also sleeps at this time and as the weather is cold so i think he will sleep till around 9.30-10.30am but when its sunny or summer he gets up around 9.00am and i make him sleep even in a day once and i make him sleep around 3.30 or 4.00pm for about one hour and sometimes one and half hour. my mom everytime tells me that if the babies sleep more they will be more healthy and hence i make him sleep atleast once in a day. if i dont make him sleep in a day he sleeps early in the night and he always cry and have problems and dont sleep properly and also he doesnt have his dinner properly and hence i always make him sleep in day atleast for a little while.

With my child (who is 16 months old) I put him to bed around 10-10:30, he wakes up around 9-9:30 (unless he is getting sick then its a little later) and then takes a nap around 2-3pm. This seems to work for him. Most children his age need approximately 10 1/2 to 12 1/2 night time sleep, 1-3 hour naps for a total of 11 1/2-15 1/2 hours a day. But this is just an average for you... some children sleep more some sleep less... it all varies from child to child.

my kids wake up at 4:30 in the morning every single school day. they're school is far from where we live so their schoolbus picks them up at around 5:15am. They get home pretty late at around 5 or 6pm. they usually sleep at around 9 in the evening.
