i have some one that i used to talk to all the time but we never get a chance to now but she is a forward email addict.. i hate them!! i have gotten viruses that way and i have seen most a million times so i really dont care.. i have told every one a few times to not send me them since i will just delete them based upon just the fear of viruses but i still get a flood of them.. and the person i mentioned is ALWAYS forwarding them.. a couple a day.. i will send a regular note and not get a reply because i know she is psycho busy and cant answer back much which im guessing is why she does forwards.. all you have to do is read laugh and send.. im not too fond of this type of friendship but i love her to death.. what would you do?? she is obviously an addict to forwarding things to where stopping is apparently not an option to her and like i said she is busy but jeeze!! a few words to reply wouldnt be so hard!! i know she isnt avoiding me its just how she is she thinks every single kitten in a hat or rumor running around is either cute or important.. do you think it would be a shallow thing to end a friendship over?would you do it? **just for the record im not ending my friendship but i know there has to be people that are irritated like me out there with the same problem!!**

I do get some stuff like that and it irritates me in some way but mostly i get disappointed about them. As you said a short note would have been better and well appreciated. Even just a simple "just drop by to see how you're doin" would be most appreciated by me.We have been so polite enough sending them notes and yet it seems that they bother to reply on them. If you do not intend to end the friendship then i think you just have to ignore them and juts delete those e-mails and forget about them, so as not to spoil your day.

Maybe you should try and send her another email, so you'll feel better. Then after that if she replies then that's good if she doesn't then forget about it.

Partly i agree with you. However,it is so common a phenominen that i have used to that!Usually i ignor all of the strange emails but delete them directly! If a friend of you really want to inform you something can he/she contains some virus inside the mail!So dont be aware of that, get used to them, personally i believe!

hey.....why not delete the mails without reading or better put in spam mail,so that you wont be bothered?

well if you mark it as spam then everything they send you will go to spam so the occasional REAL message will be lost.. and i do delete them but they come 10 at a time so its like you open your inbox and its everywhere!!

I would be very irritated if a friend whom I think highly off just forward me emails from time to time without even bothering to answering my emails, not even a one liner. I would not end the relationship but I really doubt whether it can last long.

You see if one is forwarding you some emails, he should have some knowledge about your taste and liking and your consent too, before doing the same regularly. I am also no fan of 'forwarded mails' and I skip many and I even do not open it. I have seen some of the friends keep sending it without bothering whether I read it or not. However, it should not be reason for ending a friendship. The person concerned could be politely informed and if he/she does not listen, then his/her e-mail could be blocked (atleast in Gmail).

That's not being shallow but I don't know if I would end a friendship over that. I did read that you are not ending your friendship so I am aware of that. Sometimes people just get caught up in sending the forwards because at least the person knows they are thinking of them. I generally don't open forwards for the same reason as you. I don't want a virus on my computer. The few that I do open or ones that I hate especially. The ones that say if you don't forward on you will have bad luck. Give me a break. I delete those automatically. I have come to the place where I just delete them all. I bought a new computer about two or three months ago and I don't want a virus infecting my computer. That is too high a price to pay for opening a forward even if it is from a friend.

Well, if the forward mails are so irritating to you, you may considering filtering her mail out. I am sure with the application that you use to read your mails, there would be some feature that you can use to filter her mail. Just create a new folder call FRIENDNAME-Forwarded. Then use the filter to filter your friend's email address AND the word FORWARDED or FWD (whichever one your mail application sees) in the Title bar. Then filter these mails to the newly created folder. That way, you can choose to read the mails, or ignore them. Or if you want, you can even filter it to the bin immediately. No need to constantly delete them. No need to fret over this little thing. Friendships are hard to forge. Especially the ones that are good. Maybe you can remind her to remove you from her mailing list, then that would solve the problem too.

Nah, most of my friends are like that lol. I actually like to receive them & be in the "loop" I do the same for them. If I don't like a particular email I just delete it. I can understand why some people don't like them though.

I have had such forwarded mails from a few friend of mine, i would just ignore them or spam them but not even think of ending my friendship, hope if they sincerely knew that there are chances of viruses attacking our system, they wont do it, that must have been unknown to themselves i guess

well all of them have older pc's so i dont know if that is why mine reacts and theirs dont and i think part of the problem is they dont notice little odd things going wrong unlike people that are used to pcs all the time (these are from older LESS experienced people that arent good with computers so if something does go wrong they think they did it)

lol well no i wouldnt end a friendship over emails. Just block messages from her and tell her you got a new email and she will send it to that one which you wont use!!

Hi moonlitmagikchild.. y have many friends that the only thing that they do is to forward emails.. I don't have time to read all forwarded emails, so I simply ignore them.. but I think that I wouldn't end the relationship because some day they may need me or I need them to do something and I will regret the separation

No way because some of those emails are some of the funniest ones you get. Granted your just on their email list and you just happen to be blessed to get them all but you have to remember that means at least they are thinking of you. They pick your name over someone else's because they knew you would enjoy it more. If you ask me it's kind of like that good feeling about being included by your friends.
