i know it is very strange question.but i have seen many people who don't do that.they don't show their age or whether they are men or women, where are they are from and other things.some may say that they don't want to tell their personal things to everyone and they are right in some way also because there are many anti-social things happening now-a-days.i have written everything write in my profile.what do you do?? and why?? share your views.

Hey vinay, good topic start there. The best thing about the internet is the ability to be completely anonymous. You cannot be judged by those you speak to based on anything but the way you respond to discussions. Race, age, religion, gender, the way you dress; none of these can bias someone against you on the internet... simply because people do not know these things about you. I think this is wonderful and generally try to give as little info about myself as a system allows... plus it's fun to confuse people

its there choice if they choice to not put there real identity online people are crazy collecting information about people, some people have nothing else to do but dig into people lives trying to find out there business so if they choose to keep there lives private we should respect that and don,t worry about it

Most of the time, i show my real identity online, such as gender, age, location. But i seldom will show my name. If I show my name, it won't be my full name. I'm a Malaysia Chinese, so my full name is rather longer. We often do this to protect ourselves from others. I have a close friend who was "attacked" by a guy online who say he love her. When they are still friends, she did tell him where she is working, and this crazy guy wrote letter to her and he did talk about something insane. He even told her he is going to look for her. My friend is so scared and learn her lesson. So, i strongly advice people to be aware when you are meeting friends online.

Normally I don't like giving too much away about myself online because it's so open to fraud and hackers...however on a site like this based purely for opinions and discussion I feel it's needed as it helps each user gain more of an idea who their talking to and that's mainly how friendships are made.

Everything in my profile is true...age, gender and date of birth. I even went back in to my profile and changed my address when I moved house earlier this year. The only thing on my profile that is not true is my avatar. That's not a picture of me...I am much better looking...he, he.

I may have said this somewhere else on myLot before, but I have lost track of what I have said lately. Only one or two people know my original identity. Even people that I come across do not really KNOW who I am. In real life, people really only know what is on the surface. I am female, eighteen, in college, I want to major in psychology, and I work at a vet clinic. Online, I used to tell people that I was male and five years older than what I am. Now I do not. At least, not often.

On the net I don't tell where I live. Some crazy might come kill me. I already have a troll looking in my window from the net! ! So you know, you can't share every thing. I can't figure out why someone wouldn't tell why they wouldn't tell whether there male or female. I'm confused over that one. Most intelligent people could figure that one out one there own. A lot of times I just let people guess my age.

most of things are right in my profile and some are not. its not required to give the correct details as its not compulsory or so, so if its the case there is no any needto do it. as you say there are many antisocial things happening and it is the main reason why people dont give the right details and to be on the safer side but then too you find there are many bad things happening and just think if correct details are given what might have happened.

Well if you will check all of my details here in MyLot then that would be all of me for I do not like to hide anything about myself even for my age.....

I am completely honest when I tell people something about me on the internet. I have no reason to lie to anyone. I have come to realize that if people cannot accept me for who I am, they are not people that I want in my life. I have nothing to hide, so I have no problem being completely open and honest.
