I'm A computer science graduate but I don't know how to create a robot. Children here can do it but the parts are very expensive. What is the simplest form of robot I can do for my project that anyone can do? I have no experience in electronics.

Hi. I just joined this service and this is my first discussion post. Growing up I had much interest in robotics and would read a lot of science fiction on it. Back in the 80's it was too difficult & expensive for a hobby. About 2 years a go I decided to revisit my old childhood interest and investigate it as a hobby.(I was spending to much time in bars and such) I bought a kit from Parallax called the Boe-bot and it was very helpful and educational way to learn the fundamentals of making robots. I bought it for $75. Don't know if that's too much for you. But it was a lot of fun and well worth it. A good book I bought to learn the basics of making a robot from scratch was "123 robotics experiments for the evil genius". From this u could learn to make simple robot from from leftover junk & old toys. Hope this helps Dave

creating of robot requires microcontroller, the microcontroller makes the robot to do the things it helps to send commands to the Robot to do the things for this u must require C programming skills to write the code for microcontroller and you must know the complete details of Microcontroller.

I don't know much about robots too but just to give you an idea, I assume you are good with computers because you're a Computer Science graduate. Why not make an educational robot? Something like a robot with a big screen on his chest. He's got this buttons where kids will press to start a learning activity or something like it.
