Is it perfectly safe to use a styling gel on your hair it you will be going out and walk on a very hot summer day?

Hair gel is made to be used in the elements, especially humidity. I think, if anything, the gel will protect your hair from the sun's rays. I have worn hair gel on very hot days and had no problems whatsoever. I honestly don't believe any hair type will suffer from styling aids in hair even on sunny, hot days.

It might get kind of uncomfortable depending on the type is is. Your hair might feel kind of crunchy yet sweaty, which is an odd feeling, or it might just get a little slimy if you get really sweaty and it starts to wet the gel, but it should not ruin your hair.

I think it depend on the gel being used. There are styling gels that are perhaps oil base and most likely being oil based, this absorbs a lot of heat. Perhaps using this on very hot summer days may damage the hair. Although I am not sure if I am right... I am actually basing my answer on common sense. We all know that heat damages the hair or even other parts of the body. Like for instance our skin gets sunburn when exposed to the heat of the sun for quite a time. Thus, there is a big possibility that the hair can be damaged.

Yep. I live in the Philippines so you can just imagine how hot days are in here (summer or not). I use Curl Booster gel by Citre Shine everyday and it doesn't damage my hair at all. Be sure to wash it off before you sleep and be sure to not put too much on, you'd get dandruff if you scalp reacts to the moisture.

No it won't damage your hair. I personally use styling Gel even sunny days but I didn't see any damage done on my hair. Just make sure you was it off before going to bed because it's really sticky and you wouldn't want to spread that stickiness on your face. Happy mylotting..

Well i think all this depends on what kind of hair , you have becasuei used to use gel alot , then my hair started falling alot and i almost had a bad hairline and stuff like that but then i stopped and i started oiling my hair. Been a year and the hair fall has decreased alot.Well anyways obvioisly we guys need the gel to look kool and all. You know to get the perfect hair style and all. but then gel also ruins the hair. Well anyways i went to a hair stylist and he told that, whenever you wanna put gel, Put hair oil on your hair and then apply gel on your hair, then the gel wont harm the hair and if we do it like this, we can use it everyday. So i go like that. hehe. Well anyways happy mylotting :)
