Driver relies on sat nav......and gets lost....totally lost!!!

I came across this story when some had added a link to their story and I thought I would have a browse at the site and this made me laugh!! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/weird/article1447400.ece Basically a Syrian driver was meant to drive from turkey to Gibraltar, Southern Spain and his sat nav sent him to Skegness as it had the Rock of Gibraltar listed as part of UK!! On the site is a map of where he should have gone and where he ended up!!! It funny, it took him almost an hour to turn his lorry around and he had to unload the cars at Birmingham for them to be shipped out!!

That's true, my husband uses the sat nav until now. The time that he traveled to york he got lost. Coz the sat nav. pointing to different directions. So now, he never rely too much in sat.nav. lolz Happy posting.

These things were meant to make driving simpler, I think they have made them harder. I know some taxi companies use sat nav, I think they rely on them hen doing long journeys or trips to airports. They should be reliable, I dont drive so dont use a sat nav, I know my brother has one and does rarely use it but he will also check the internet for directions and print them off aswell!!

My hubby has a sat nav and you know if he follows it, he gets lost as it always seems to send him totally in the wrong direction. He will have it on and follow it to a certain degree but he always memorises the journey from a map so that if he thinks the sat nav is wrong he can go his own way! It does not surprise me in the slightest that someone got lost with one!

Yeah but to head to Spain and end in Skegness, that is one big error to the sat nav!! It makes me glad that I dont drive at times. Just shows that sat navs aren't always that reliable and that you should have a map to hand at all times!!

There's alot to be said for the old fashioned skill of reading a map. At least you don't get lost if you know how to read one. It's great that there were ppl there to help him out. ~~MY OWN PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF**
