people in the philippines... filipinos all over the world.. or just anybody else?
if you get this word, then join in =) to date, i don't know if somewhere, there's still another person who's not familiar with this..nobody knows what it really means because it doesn't have an exact meaning..or does it? it's a fad in the gay lingo but i too can't be so sure that it sprang out from them..well, what a truly diverse and rich culture we do have..
out of nothing, i just thought of searching for this word here in myLot and luckily, no results..
this word is not alone..it has many "sisies" or sisters. there's also chenes and chaka and many, many more..
so, let's dissect this!

I'm one of those who doesn't know the exact meaning of chorva. I prefer not to use any gay lingo and in my opinion those words are for gays only. It doesn't make our grammar rich or doesn't have any sense to a sentence.

Chorva! lolz sounds like chuva chu chu of Jolina, I also notice that in philippine society some of the people are realyl using gay lingo, i remember when i was at school, my freinds and i always using the word chaka,chenes and sessies and etc hahaha so we sounds like a gay. Gays are very influencial on thier lingo hahhaha. But chorva i never heard until i read your discussion but it sounds like chuva which i always used before. Happy posting. Chorva whahahaha

yeah..i see that gay people are quite influential..but depends on the gay and the society they're in =) it sounds weird, though i think that "chorva" is still on the verge of emergence..hahaha..guess i really am surrounded by a lot of gays since birth XD

chorva actually comes from CHUVA which is a word that can replace any word and may be used with whatever emotion you are feeling. i use this word often but i'm more inclined to use it's mother word that is chuva. for example, you are engaged in a conversation and you've labeled a thing or a person or an action the first time and the next time you mention the word, it can be replaced with chuva. but you have to be very careful because some people just don't get it especially those who have "serious" professions. this colorful kind of language is not limited to gays anymore. people who work in production, in the network or in creatives use this word often.

i just know this word since i have several gay friends. they just say it when they cannot say what they want to say. sometimes they say it when they are trying to look down at people, or pag un nanlalait. hahaha. but sometimes they also use it to describe something good. really depends on the mood. hahaha

i've heard this word but has never used yet. a word that i noticed i've been using recently is "chuva"... which i guess means the same? or am i wrong?

Yes this lingo is really becoming very common that even the non gays especially the ladies are getting used to inserting this in their conversation. It is vague how this word started but what we only know is that it started from gay lingo that has somewhat spread even to the non gays. Well I just hope that someone or our linguist would put some meaning to it soon.

I think it is just an expression popularized by the gays. It's a nice way of filling in adjectives or nouns. :)

*lol* That word has gotten really popular, hasn't it? Even one of my non-gay guy office mates use it (though, whenever I hear him say it, I just have to burst out laughing). I, too, use the word as a filler if I can't think of anything to finish my sentences. *lol*
As to its real meaning, well, I've heard some say that "chorva" has a real meaning in gay lingo that only gays know..? I'm not so sure though.
It's still a fun expression, though.
