Do you remember "Sweet Valley"?

It was a hugely popular collection of books created by Francine Pascal. The stories mainly center around the life of twins named Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield and the different series were Sweet Valley Kids, Sweet Valley Middle School, Sweet Valley High, and Sweet Valley University, and later to add something new to the series, there were Sweet Valley Junior High and SVH Senior Year, plus there were many other like Secret Diaries and etc. It was really popular when I was in high school and we had lots of Sweet Valley books. But suddenly, they seemed to disappear. I think we just lost track because we lost interest in them. I don't see these books being sold anywhere anymore and unlike books like Nancy Drew, there are no modernized versions. I guess it's because the "feel" of the books seem to be so outdated nowadays compared to the Gossip Girl, It Girl, and other similar series. I bet kids nowadays aren't even remotely familiar with these books.

They do still sell those books at Waldens Books and their are actually a few online stores that have time. I know locally there are a few stores I think walmart still carries them and I know books a million still carries them! I don't know about many kinds being familiar with these books but im 22 and i have a 14 year old cousin who reads those books. we also had them at the daycare center that i used to work at so they are still out there and getting read.

I do remember Sweet Valley. And, I believe they are coming out with an updated version of the books. if you go to Amazon.com and put in "Sweet Valley" the first thing that comes up are the re-releases. So far, they have updated versions of the first four Sweet Valley High books. I read most of the middle school and high school books. I never read the Sweet Valley Kids or the University books.

Yes I remember them. I'm pretty sure I read them all. I have found some at second hand stores, etc. but I could never get my girls interested in them. One of my daughters doesn't like to read and the other is more into stephan king and dean koontz. I also remember a series about a rich girl named caitlin(I'm pretty sure thats what the books were called) and thats where one of my daughters got her name.

So you think Lila and Jessica will be eaten alive if they ever mess with the kids from Gossip Girl? Lol. I used to read those a lot, from the middle school to the Sweet Valley High series. I also used to read the Babysitters' Club when I was younger.

oh my gawd...how can i ever forget sweet valley? i grew up on it...hehehe it was like my daily companion back in school days. I did not get to buy my own story books then, so it was forever waiting for friends to get them, and then...waiting for them to finish them...and voila..ze book lands in my hands.... I seriously loved reading those books so much. And the best thing is, as mentioned by mymelodake, the books totally catered to all age groups. you can slowly grow up on sweet valley. i still have a few books in my home and once in a while, i'll still take them out, and go thru da book again. it was good...kids these days are way too engrossed in PSPs and Wii's...and all that....they just do not know the good of books anymore. pretty sad...

OMG! Talk about a blast from the past. I loved those books!! I think there was over 150 in total by the time the series ended. They were such great characters. Jessica, Elizabeth, Elizabeth's boyfriend Todd, her best friend Enid, Jessica's best friend, Lila, I know there were other characters but that's all I remember. They were good clean reading for young girls of the generation. I had a ton of them and have no clue what happened to them. I wish I still had them to pass on to my little girl now. Awww great memories..thanks :)

Hi friend! You remind me of my younger days. I used to collect some of the books. My mum only allowed me to buy one if i get a good result. After i finish mine, i will exchange it with some of my friends. But among all, i love Sweet Valley Twins most. I don't like it after Elizabeth is no more with Todd. That's when i stop reading. I still keep some of them.
