If we're just talking about parental roles, no I don't think a woman can be a father. But, I don't think sheneeds to be. She just needs to be a parent. I'm not saying men aren't needed, just that children can grow up well adjusted in single parent households (and I'd wager some of those households, the single parent is a father, rather than a mother).
Just from my own experience, I ... |
| Angelwriter responded to a discussion called so i don't want to have kids, that does not make me a social pariah! in people. 2 months ago
No there's nothing wrong with being a woman who doesn't want kids. I also don't want kids. I don't have any huge noble reasons, I just first of all don't like babies. And, boy does that get a reaction when people hear it. I do like some kids, but I don't want to be responsible for another person's physical safety, emotional well being, and moral upbringing.
As for marriage, I figure if I eve... |

Nobody is equal toanyone else in "all aspects". If equal means "same".
But, everyone is equal in they're all human beings who should be treated as human beings. |
| Angelwriter responded to a discussion called What is your favorite Drew Barrymore movie? in watching movies. 2 months ago
I like Ever After, because I'm a sucker for fairy tales, and feminist ones are even better. Words and Music is another one. Romantic comedy (and catchy tunes) where both parties support each other and try to fix their mistakes when they screw up. Plus, no triangle.
And, my favorite younger Drew Barrymore movie is Irreconcilable Differences. |
| Angelwriter responded to a discussion called Girls!!! Are you like this??? in woman. 1 month ago
I could argue with so many things posted here, but instead I will just answer the original post. First, I'm a feminist. Have been, even though I probably didn't know the word then, since I was 5. As far as the "crimes" I don't require a man to give me his seat or open the door. Don't ask for it, don't demand it. But, if a man offers, I don't feel my feminist creds are damaged if I accept. How do... |
| Angelwriter responded to a discussion called boys playing with dolls? in questions & answers. 4 weeks ago
Okay, I'm responding to your question, including your additional clarifications. Yes, if I had a son, I would allow my son to play with dolls if that's what he enjoyed. Being teased would be irrelevant. First, let me say my next sentence is just me giving my own feelings. I'm not assuming anyone else feels this way or saying anyone else said this. Okay? Anyway, to me, not allowing my son to pla... |
| Angelwriter responded to a discussion called Nanowrimo - does anyone here participate? in writing. 4 weeks ago
I've done Nanowrimo for maybe 7 years (?) now. Won all but one of them. Really rotten stories and most of the endings are slapped on so it will be finished, but it's still fun. And, a nice sense of accomplishment that says I can write something even if it is crap. |
| Angelwriter responded to a discussion called Does "Friday the 13th" mean anything to you? in questions & answers. 2 weeks ago
It's simply another day to me. Sometimes I'm not even aware of the date until the day is over and then I realize that it was Friday the 13th. My thought after that? "Who cares?"
I don't believe God set some days up to be unlucky. And, I've lived through enough Friday the 13th's without anything bad happening (and other dates without the stigma where bad thingsdid) to not place any un... |
