How Do You Feel When You Achieve The Little Goals Along The Way In Life?

My lifetime goal was to eventually live by the sea, even as a child I had a yearning to be near the sea. I achieved this nearly nine years ago now in my late thirties but this month I set in my mind to reach 5000 here, achieved a couple of minutes ago ahead of the end of the month and to reschedule my work hours which I managed to talk to my manager and do last week. I feel very happy and content and find it is the smaller goals along the way that make the difference. What goals have you achieved lately and were they before the end date you had set for yourself in your mind. Please share. Ellie :D

Congratulations - congratulations, smiley
Congratulations on both accounts. You wanted to live close to the ocean and I do not see that as a small goal but a big achievement. I am glad that you are happy. Congratulations on your 5000 post.

yes life is wholly about expectations and in order to achieve them fixing a goal really helps. when i was a student i wanted to be professional and want to become an engineer and at the end of my studies and i did it and i am an engineer now. yes it is not the only one in this way i had more goals to be done and i had reached a few and a few yet to reach and i really happy for the one i had already reached and i am looking forward and waiting for the one yet to reach. wish me good luck for those yet to reach and good luck to you too for the one even you want to reach.

Hi ya ellie333 Well I tend to set my self small goals like on mylot. I have in mind a target I want to reach for my earings for this month and I should do it although there are only two days or so left. As I am an at home mum on my own I don't have the time to do courses but I will be as soon as it is possible and then I guess I will be setting myself a goal in the job area!

Hi Humbug as a single parent myself I find the juggle between home and work life difficult at times. Kids need one parent to be available at all times as it is mummy they want when poorly and as much as the government say employers will understand, they don't and you don't get sick pay or anything so it annoys me that they are forcing parents from the youngest child being seven and yet if we left a seven year old alone and anything happened to them we would be negligent eh! Grrr, sorry just one of my gripes. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Humbug, I am in the middle of trying to finish a course at the moment and that is one thing I keep getting distracted from, I done Law a few years ago and am doing a degree in Advanced Criminology but I have lost interest at the moment as I really don't know which direction it will take me once I have achieved. You have done exceedlingly well her at myLot and I am glad you are almost at target for this month. Huggles. Ellie :D

Well I am sort of half way through my ECDL course. I did the first part before the summer holidays but there wasn't enough people to do the next part so I have to wait until after Christmas. It is only 3 hours a week so my friend picks my youngest up from pre-school while I get back from my course but it is only for half an hour or so. I have 3 years to decided what I want to do career wise and get all the free training I can get before the dear old government tell me I have to go back to work.

Congratulations on reaching some of your (life) goals Ellie, I'm glad to hear so. Currently I reached the goal of getting a part-time job in child day care and getting permission from my college to do my studies in a part-time variant. These were my two goals to avoid a big loan to get me through college. I passed both my schooltests, so that's another goal archieved! Another goal was to take more time to relax and I have been able to do that a bit more often aswell, even though it's something I need to keep paying attention to. My next goal is saving up to do something nice with my fosterbrother, taking him to a toddlers theaterperformance or a themepark. I spend more time with him now as I take more time to myself, but now I have more funds so I would like to take him somewhere too . I guess this will become a new years resolution for me... I hate those, promised myself never to make those as they are only broken and there are lots of other good moments to make resolutions. Oh well... lol

Hi Cyberfluf, Well done on all your achievments this year, you have done so well and I am pleased to hear that you have managed to work college part-time whilst earning doing a job you love to do. I do not make New Years resolutions I set small goals throughout the year as like you say these ones tend to get broken. I hope you have a fun day at the theatre/theme park with your foster brother when you get there next year. Huggles. Ellie :D

Living by the sea is an awesome goal. I'm happy for you that you were able to do it. There is something truly special about living by the sea. I agree that the smaller goals along the way make the difference. Sometimes I even set teeny tiny little goals just to have a success at achieving something. Hee.

Hi Littleowl, Going to a workshop like that is an achievement in itself and very educational too. We all set different goals for different reason whether we realise we do it or not, for me today it was to clear the shed and spiders and all I got it done. This was something over and above what I would usually do on a Saturday so it was a goal achieved and I can now relax back for the rest of the weekend. Each day you go out into the countryside with the dogs and experence nature so that is an great achievement, a lot woundn't bother and just let them out into the yard. You are doing great. Huggles. I haven't really had that many big goals in life so far, obviously there was passing exams and school and passing my driving test etc. My main goal at the moment is to finish my training, i think that will feel amazing!! I can remember when i was trying to lose weight achieving my goal at the end of two months of dieting, that was a really good feeling, i rewarded myself with a new outfit (although what i really wanted was a greasy pizza!! lol) xxxx

Hi Munchkin, Well to pass exams and pass your driving test are both great achievements and yes to finish your training I should imagine will feel amazing. I am glad the book problem is resolved so you don't have that worry and now can just concentrate on your work and studies eh! You have hit on something there to, to reward yourself for having achieved these goals is also a great thing to do, diet success or not I would have probably still treated myself to the pizza LOL, I just can't resist pizza but instead of a whole one I will have a triangle and have with a jacket potato, sided salad and garlic bread so I am getting a bit better. Ellie CONGRATUATIONS on your 5000! I knew you could make it before the month end. Achieving goals an setting targets, eve if its a small one is very important to make our living very satisfying. I do set targets like finishing my chores, wrap up with the deadlines and go shopping with mom and help her with stuffs. It feels like achieving something. My current goal is to wrap up settling our house before the main festival on us Bengalees. Its Durga Puja which is next week and I must finish off my deadlines. Hoping to have a blast with the old friends coming over and nothing like a get together. You have a great time! Huggles.

Heheeheh great!! Don't we always feel great when we do what we promised ourselves to do. Achieving a goal is actually keeping a promise we made to ourselves. So, if we achieve a goal it simply means we honor our own word. Only then we become capable of achieving more. Cheers and happy mylotting

Thinking about what I wanted to do as a child was to work with children, I have got my qualification and worked in a restaurant in the child play area for just over 2 years and then moved onto a nursery and was there about 4 years so I feel that I have accomplished my goal. Now that I am settled where I am now my goal is to start a family an go back into working in childcare

Congrats on both. I set small goals for myself because unless I'm moving forward I'm just coasting backward, when you coast you can only go in two directions. I make daily lists so I complete small goals along the way but its important to post your goals so you have a visual that can be turned into a mental. I guess the last goal I acheived was finishing some writting that I had put off. Now I'm going to add some more acheivable goals to my list.

Hi Gitfiddleplayer, Thank you. I agree achieving the smaller goals gives hope and encouragement towards knowing that the larger ones can be achieved too eh! I had three small things I wanted to achieve over and above normal weekend house stuff and managed to achieve all three so I was able to have a fairly relaxed day today. I cleared the shed, sorted unwanted and too small clothes into rags, charity or give to a friends grandson and wathc the F1 qualifying. Ellie :D

I always feel good about reaching any goals, large or small. I had a lifetime goal of living in the country with enough land to grow most of the fruits, vegetables and nuts that I eat. It took me 55 years, but I finally made it last year. Once we settled in and most things were unpacked and in their proper places, I felt "home". It was, and still is, a very good feeling. Some days my goal is simply to get to the grocery store to buy something that is needed. If the day is a hectic one and I manage to squeeze in enough time to get the grocery shopping done, I'm happy. I've had goals here in myLot that I've met; reaching 100 posts, then 200 posts, then, finally, 500 posts. Now that I have all of the 'goodies' that myLot offers upon reaching those goals, I don't count my posts anymore. One goal I've had for most of my life was to help at least one person every day, even if it was just to put a smile on their face. I'm able to accomplish that goal here in myLot. I'm not able to get out of the house every day because of my physical problems but, since I found myLot, I've been able to at least try to make at least one person feel better every day. That makes me happy. I think everyone, no matter how 'tough' or emotionless they seem, feels good about reaching personal goals, even if they don't show it. Personally, I'm such a loudmouth that everyone knows how happy I am when I reach a goal I've set.
@ellie333 (21016)

Hi Mentalward, I am really pleased that you too have manage to achieve your goal of living in the country with enough land to grow your own produce on. That must make you feel really good. I agree once 500 reached there are no real stepping stones to look forward to as such on myLot but thought the 5000 pretty good as haven't really been her that long really. It is lovely to be able to help others, and putting a smile on someones face is just so rewarding. Not being able to get ou of the house means that at times myLot and the people on it are the outside world I guess a I don't get ou much in the evenings so for me it is my social life. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Ellie :D

Congratulations! A very great humanitarian once said... and I quote-"There are those who have goals and think about doing something about them and don't. And there are those who have dreams and do nothing about them. And then there are those who dream to achieve their goals and do." And this is what makes all the difference in the kind of person we strive to be. Good for you!
