WOW! The first time I ever had a doctor to tell me to lose weight was this past Monday. I am at 170 and he would like to have me be at 150. I would like to be at 125 personally but I was still shocked. I am 5'6" and thought I was at a healthy weight but I guess I am over. So I signed back on with sparkpeople website and tracking those pesky little calories and drinking my eight glasses of water. When was the shocker point for you to start losing weight?

When I started dating my boyfriend, I packed on 50 pounds and it was a mess. My clothes didn't fit, but I refused to buy more. We got a treadmill and I lost about 10 pounds with that. Then I had a doctor's appointment and the doctor told me that I was really overweight and had a lot to lose (he didn't specify how much) so I decided that I should probably take action. I joined SparkPeople also and I love it. I'm not sure if I have lost any weight because I haven't weighed myself, but I love the site and it helps keep me going more than I would have without it.

We use to always laugh when we went to our doctor because he would always tell everyone in the family that they should loose weight. At that time I was 140, 5'4". I didnt' feel like I needed to loose, but like you sure I would have loved to be 125 again! Well, I am the thinnest in my family and he would also tell my mom and my 2 sisters that they needed to loose (and the actually do), but the funny thing is that my other sister would go and he would never mention her weight to her. She is the heaviest of all of us. It's crazy how he tells the rest of us, but not her! The shocker point for me was when I stepped on the scale and was over 150!!!!! I then said, no way and started with weight watchers again.

Wow, you doctor surely went a bit overboard. By the new guidelines you are overweight, by the old guidelines you were within the limits of normal weight. I'm at the same level but have yet to find a doctor dare tell me that I need to lose weight, lol. Funny thing is, they are now starting to say that the new guidelines went too far as they were established to rapidly fight obesity. They should be revised. I won't hold my breath on this. I'm done with dieting to look like a supermodel. That is soooo much worse for your body than the few pounds over, lol. I'm fine the way I am and unless you have any weight related diseases or diseases that may be fixed with some weight loss you shouldn't worry about it.
