Wow...some people sometimes. I know everyone has their moments, but man. I work in a bar, and I always hear stories over and over again. It just comes with the job, but the other night I had a lady who just ramped and raved over every little thing. I mean everything under the sun. Why the grass was green/rough, why it gets cold and how bad it sucks, the beer was foamy, just every d*mn thing. So I tried to just ignore it, but after five hours of ranting all I could think was Lady GET A LIFE... Have you ever had these moments? What do you do in this type of situation? Have any good stories on a ranter? Happy mylotting everyone!

I would just probably ignore her just like what you did. Hey, you're near the 500 mark. Let me be the first to congratulate you!

Thanks, I just noticed that...yay i'm so excited. Anyway lol... yeah I just try to ignore the lady and let her rant on. Its better when others get her to calm down and be quiet, but soon after she starts again.

My mom is like that. She is never satisfied. I don't know how she does it, but she can find an annoying conversation out of everything. I was reading today, and she is saying stuff about what's on the TV about how weird the guy on MAD TV thing was [Yes mom, they're ALL weird.] Then she went on to say how the floors were dirty, and the dog was doing something, the guy who just drove by is a bad driver, the weather is froggy, there are leftover tacos in the fridge, did you like the new Halloween decorations, how was school, what are we doing on Sunday on and on and on. When she complains, it's a rapid fire, she could say more in 5 minutes than I say in a year. Someone please shut her up, in the most polite way possible, before I commit a horrible crime! Help!

Oh I feel sorry for you, because I know what I go through. At least I can move to the other side of the room, or turn up the jukebox. Thanks for your response. happy mylotting.

Oh, I've had those types of situations before. Too bad you were at work and couldn't get away. I always try to leave quickly so I don't get caught up in their ranting. Whether it be to answer the phone or remember something suddenly that I have to do. They just want everyone to be as miserable as they are.

Yeah, I try to get away the best I can, by either going to the other side of the bar, or turn up the jukebox and drown her out. Thanks for responding. happy mylotting.

I deal with these type of people every day at work. People that are so down on everything and bad mouth the company they work for. They are always getting cheated out of something and the rules are totally unfair. They want to be able to do whatever they want, whenever they want and not have to come to work if they want to and get paid twice as much as they do now. Well people - there is the door. Go find some other job. If the grass is greener then go over there. These are the same people that complain that they don't have money for gas in their car are unable to pay their electric bill but they buy lunch every day and stop and get breakfast on the way to work. Times are tough, jobs are hard to come by. Stop complaining and be grateful for what you have.

yes i've been in those moments and i've seen people in those moments as well, i just ignore them because there is no point in explaining to them that life is full of wonderful things and that you just have to see things in a different perspective and try to be positive, it may sound so cliche but then it is true. It is up to you to see things that would make you happy. There is no point in arguing and complaining over and over again over small things which can be solved!

it sounds more like she was looking for conversation, and doesn't know how it works i have an autistic guy who sometimes comes by my office or calls the tech line - he takes a good 10 minutes to get to every point or question - but it's just because he has so many interests and things swirling in head - and he knows if i'm not too busy, i will listen - that is all some people are looking for

Hey tlb, I'll bet you have some great stories that you could tell. You should try writing some for some of those paid writing sites. I'm serious! You would probably make some good money because I'm sure that people would love to read stories from a bartender. You really should check out some of the writing sites like Associated Content. I'm sure you could find one that would pay for stories that were real and probably pretty funny too! As for that annoying woman, I guess we know why she was at the bar!

These people irritate me because they absolutely REFUSE to find joy in anything. At the same time they irritate me, they also ammuse me because I tend to reply with something positive. It is like a game for me. If they say that it is too hot, i tell them that the weather will change soon. If they say it is too suuny, I tell them that the sun goes down at night. You get the picture. I guess I am just more positive by nature.
