I live in the Philippines and we have 24-26 storms in a year (yes, enough to finish all letters of the alphabet for each name). We are now on the letter "O" with Typhoon Ofel as our last typhoon. So, have 11 more to go! The extent of the damage of each typhoon really depends on how strong it is and where the area of calamity is. If you live in the mountains, you are more likely to experience landslides during storms. If you're on the low lands, you'll be facing floods. The worst flood I experienced lasted for the whole month of October 1986. I was just 8 years old then. So, we transferred to the high lands. Surprisingly, we also experienced flash flood, yes, the kind that's gone in an hour or so but leaves all your furniture wet and destroyed. Just a few years ago, we experienced typhoon Milenyo which left a great damage on most of the provinces in the country. But, I think the Filipinos have gotten used to these calamities. There is even a city here called Malabon where it's flooded 70% of the time but some people can still adjust to the living conditions there.
