I am not accustom to them dont think I will ever be never thought we should go in for that free trade thing in the first place and the way to Change it is to boycott any thing made in china dont buy it. Might be hard to find but do look for things made in America!.If toy and stuff are made here we really dont need them!

Its all a bunch of crap. If terrorist really want to do something, they could do something to out water and food. We don't know from day to day if our food is safe to eat. same as our pet food. Somebody needs to get busy doing something. Sometimes its produce, fresh vegies. Somebody who harvest them, goes to the bathroom nd doesn't wash their hands. People get sick and die, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Do grown people have to have hand washing police to watch them. Maybe there needs to be some hand sanitizer on hand. Everyone who goes out in the field has to use it. I think America needs to start thinking and taking care of our own. We are always so worried about everyone else. Lets set our standards high, and stick to it. Buy American, quit letting our industry, our jobs leave our country. What the heck.............

I am not sure what we can do now. There is very little bit that is made here. At least this time they have also harmed people there. Maybe they will start being more careful.

As long as the American public continues to demand cheaper products we must be wary of everything. We can't really blame our stores cause they are trying to get what we want at a price we are willing to pay. We do need a better way to insure the safety of our imports. But that would mean the other countries would have to help by making safe products. Unfortunately that may mean prices would rise.

I don't know. The dollar stores are making a killing and most of that is from China. Many people can't afford stuff made in America, so I don't know how we change. That is a good question. Maybe when people are afraid enough, they will stop buying things in China. But I didn't know Cadbury bars got their milk from China, so the FDA would pretty much have to say, no food from China at all to stop it. Most items don't say where they get their materials or ingredients from. Even if it says made in the USA, it's often assembled parts here but the parts came from somewhere else. Same with candy bars, made in the USA sometimes but the ingredients are from somewhere else. I think full disclose of where everything comes from like made in the USA from Chinese parts or something so we would at least know.

My husband started a similar discussion the other day, so you are not alone in noticing this. I don't understand why the world doesn't just stop getting things imported from China. it's really scary what is going on. Are we so desparate for cheap labour that we would put people in jeopardy?

The only way is just to stop purchasing them. The governemnet is not going to do anything about it. They are more into money than protecting the AMerican people. In fact we owe China more money than I have even seen in my life already.

Well unless they put a contaminant on the clothes we do not have to worry. I think we have to go back to the food imported from China being what we expect like duck eggs, soya and hosein sauces, dried mushrooms, tofu, soy beans, mung beans and those kinds of dried stuff you get in a speciality shop and do not buy food that you normally would get from Germany, England, Canada, Australia, or the States. And you buy locally made toys or toys from countries that have high standards. Not from China where they pay low wages and have a culture where the party leaders get privileges but the common people are treated like sh*t.

To be honest I think it is better not to import food and drink of any kind from another country. I mean if you go abroad as a tourist you will prepare yourself with medication just in case food poisoning or any health problems happen, also you are not allwoed to take certain food and drink with you. So why can't we stop outsourcing food and drink making? Even if we outsource them, our debts are still high so it doesn't make sense to continue it. I think everything else that is not digested by animal or human, should be ok to outsource or import.

Even though we do have things happen with products that are made/packaged in the United States, we at least have the oversight over the companies that are producing those products. When they're coming from overseas, we loose that oversight. Part of the problem with the economy is that we're so dependent on foreign countries for so many of our products rather than making and purchasing them from American companies. It's no wonder that they're sweating now that our economy is going down the tube!
