I think today will be ab work out. How do you work out your abs?

I do forward and side crunches. I sometimes inhale and exhale in such a way to work them.

My friend showed me a whole different side of exercising..its pretty much torture..made amusing. xD Yes i had a lot of fun doing this but it HURT! She made me do crunches to the beats of songs. So the song i work out to right now is 'Never Alone' by barlowgirl and yes its christian and it works out so great with the crunches routine i do. The song starts out slow so you can do small little mini crunches by putting your arms behind your head and keep them parallel to the floor. When the drums and the chorus comes in, do full crunches normally. Then the beat slows so you can do the little ones again. man that HURTS! so when you first start out, just do your best until you feel some burn but once you feel like your tearing up then just stop for a few seconds, then start again. ha with will power i managed to get through each and every single beat by the third day, with some pain but thats good right? ;D good luck! ^.^

No, pain it not good. You're supposed to build up to things slowly, esp. when you get old like me. But I love your suggestion because I like a challenge. Haven't had a good challenge since the "All night dancing" challenge. I built up to being able to dance all night. Since most musical selections are 3 to 5 minutes long, building up to an entire musical selection for an ab work out. I think the Excelleration Waltz and some others of that type that start out slowly and then speed up would be neat. Some Christian music is cool or even really "jumpin." Thanks for your response and take care.

I used some very slow music on the radio, then I did 10 crunches in each direction and started over again. It didn't hurt. My Doctors have told me, it if hurts, it's too much. A mild burn, fine. But if you're still sore a couple days after, you over did it. Didn't hurt. Was getting tough and a mild burn toward the end, but nice workout. Thanks and take care.

xD my friend 'trainer' has always told me that the burn means that your muscles are working which is good, but we always exercise for fun. Oh wow i respect you for being able to dance all night. I could for an hour or so but after that id give up or just fall down. xD first day i did her exercise i skipped a lot of beats because i simply could not do it. Then after a few days i got the hang of it and she put me through much harder exercises..._ jeez cruel dancer she is...so how was your abs workout?

Hi writersedge. Jeesh, I just walk and swim and that's about it. But believe me, my abs definitely need to be worked! I have been working to hold my stomach muscles in at all times for the last 3 weeks. That's because I pulled a muscle in my back about 3 weeks ago and it really helped to support those muscles when I held my stomach in. I decided I'd gotten lazy on holding my muscles in so I am really working on doing that. It would no doubt help me to do something for my abs. But crunches, I don't think I have the energy for that. But, you go, girl!! Maybe you will inspire me...

Excellent. You're probably saving yourself lots of money in Physcal therapy by getting your muscles in shape that way. After my accidnet, once I healed up, they prescribed crunches. First one or two were doosies! 10 crunches 3xs today. Had to do them in a really hot bathtub. My muscles and arthritis are having a fit with 30 degrees cooler and really, really damp all of a sudden. You go girl, too! Pulling in the muscles is very important. Most people learn to do that last, you're doing it first which indicates that you had some muscles there to begin with. Do you know for every 10 years we live, starting at 30, we loose muscle mass all over? That's why I'm trying to do an overall workout, to get everything muscles and toned. Thanks for the words of encouragement and take care.

Since having a back injury and it is impossible for me to do ab work I do other mehtods of it. I am strengthening my core to try and see if it will help my back and build all the muscles that I have lost over the last few years because of the back injury. My thearpist put me on a muscle stim program. It is these pads that I put on my abs and it sends stims inside to contract the muscles. It has been working so far for me and has really been strengthening the core thats for sure. Maybe one day I will be able to go back to the normal ab workouts. But this will have to do me for now.
