Do you ever fall asleep in the middle of the afternoon and wake up feeling bad?

Sometimes, when I get really tired, I wish that I could take a nap in the middle of the afternoon. When my daughter was a baby, I'd take an afternoon nap when she took her nap. But, sometimes, I'd wake up feeling worse than before I went to sleep. Not sure why that happens. Do you ever take an afternoon nap and then wake up feeling worse than before?

When I have a few nights when I have had trouble getting to sleep or had a really late night I feel i need an afternoon nap and I always have the best sleep, really deep sleep, but I always wake up feeling groggy and weak so i try and not have afternoon naps unless i really need them.

Maybe it's the afternoon heat. I've never figured it out.

maybe it is because we are messing up our time clock we seem to have inside of us and maybe it is because as my doctor has said the air at night is different it is for sleep mode, our bodies slow down for it so maybe afternoon is not the same for our bodies...

No, not unless I sleep too long on my stomach. This may cause my back to ache after waking up.

Yes! I used to do that all the time. And when I nap I still do. Only I hardly ever nap now. My mom always asks me if I'm so tired, why don't I give in and take a nap. It's because I know I'll be worse off when I wake up. She's not like that. She feels better after a nap, but I feel sluggish.

I just have an afternoon nap yesterday and it was my best slept ever. It just an hour and thirty minutes of sleep but I feel refresh and full of energy. Well it is one of the rare sleep I ever had as it don’t happen to me often to feel refresh after an afternoon nap. Mostly, I would feel groggy and my head aches after a nap. Sometimes I would feel weak and want more sleep. I tried not to sleep in the afternoon if I can help it. For me sleeping at night is still best to rest a tired body, soul and mind.

This happens to me all the time and is usually worse on a sunday afternoon just after i've got home from the gym. After the gym I feel really really shattered and I know it's my own fault because I do like to push myself a little more each week. Normally when I wake up after a nap it's an awful feeling, feel groggy, still really dozey, normally dark when I wake up and come round so makes me feel like i've wasted part of my day and finally leaves me wondering what the hell the time is.

I also used to get groogy after taking an afternoon sleep until I discovered something called POWER SLEEP. In the past I fall asleep in the afternoon and when I wake up later I'm the most unpleasant man. I remedied that with POWER SLEEP. I only sleep for ONE hour! I set my alarm when I feel sleepy in the afternoon, go to sleep and when the alarm goes off, I wake up feeling refreshed. Posted by mervinh

yes since retiring i usually get a half hour in each afternoon to re-group as i get up at 3 am,but i found that according to what i eat before my afternoon siesta will determine how i feel when i get up.if i have a salad or something healthy for lunch and don't overeat i feel good but if i eat a burger fries etc i get up cranky. i don't drink soda or stuff like that so it's not a sugar thing i think.

I would nap in the afternoon, and usually I feel much better. But it is only if it is less than half an hour. I have never felt worse unless it was because even with the nap, I did not get enough or unless I had a terrible dream. The other time was if I was not feeling good in the first place and something was bothering me, but it is not due to too much sleep or not enough, it was because something was on my mind and even that nap did not help.

I've felt like that at times too and not sure why I feel horrible after waking up. I know when I don't have a good nights sleep, I end up taking an afternoon nap and set my alarm to wake up at 2.45pm so I won't forget to pick up my son at the bus stop at 3.15pm.

I agree with you, taking an afternoon nap always made me feel worse too. I would get a nap while my others were sleeping and I would wake up feeling ill and would not be able to get going. In the end I had to stop it, now even if I had the chance I would not nap I would just go to bed earlier instead.

Hi there: Oh yeah that happens to me all the time, I don't know why either really? Sometimes I get so tired and just feel like if I don't lay down I'm gonna fall down you know? I think too in those situations I've slept so hard that when I do wake up I just feel worse, who knows for sure but good question huh?

I don't get to take afternoon naps like I used to when my son was a baby. But taking naps for me is a very good thing. I have always been one to benefit from even just a 20 minute power nap.

Hello dear beauty queen. Usually I go and take an afternoon nap after lunch on my workdays, but if it happens to be my days off, I usually take a late nap after one or o'clock when I feel sleepy and tired. Sometimes when I get up from the nap, I do find myself suffering from a headache, which is the usual case for me. Then I will have to take a capsule to remove the headache. Otherwise it will become worse. I find that it is usually a long nap that causes it to happen. A short nap is absolutely good. One hour of nap is good enough. Take care.

If I take a nap in the afternoon I don't wake up more tired, but I do end up getting a headache. I am not sure why. I try not to take naps though because no matter how tired I am at night, I have a really difficult time falling asleep. Taking a nap makes it almost impossible. I end up awake until 5 am.

I wake up feeling like that every day. I have chronic fatigue syndrome and one of the worst symptoms is sleeping problems. I have trouble getting to sleep, trouble staying asleep and no matter how many hours I sleep I always wake up tired and feeling bad. Some days are better than others but I have not had a refreshing sleep for 2 years.

Sleeping in the afternoon usually occurs when I'm at home. I just fall asleep doing all the chores that I had to do. And when I wake up, I just feel like 5hit. I have always tried to restrain myself from going to sleep in the afternoon, but even after a satisfying sleep in the night, I just somehow fall asleep in the afternoon too. bourne
